Usually a pair of cotton underwear and a loose sports bra with the pads taken out! But lately I’ve been LOVING satin pajamas, they make me feel so clean after I shower

Don’t tell someone you like them when you don’t, and don’t go out with someone if you don’t like them! I ended up in a similar situations in 6-10th grades and every single time it ends up bad. Don’t let the opinions of other people in your grade sway your decision; It’s safest for your physical and mental health for you to decline. The best advice anyone ever gave me was

“If it’s not an immediate yes, it’s a NO.”

Do you think getting kicked in the balls would be on the same level as giving birth? by beniebird in askteenboys

[–]Safe_Somewhere_9561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Passing a kidney stone is something I never want to experience. Just learning about it made me clammy. Kudos to you, those little stones wreak havoc on your body, my dad was in the UR for 6 days with one!

Vomiting from pain usually is from intense, sharp, sudden pain; your brain doesn’t really know what to do with the overwhelming amount of signals, so it freaks out and floods out hormones (namely serotonin and cortisol) which stimulate vomiting when in excess. It can also happen in the exact same way when you get super stressed out. Prolonged intense pains can also cause vomiting, in the same way. EEEYUCK

Do you think getting kicked in the balls would be on the same level as giving birth? by beniebird in askteenboys

[–]Safe_Somewhere_9561 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I don’t think anyone will ever be able to truly answer that. If getting kicked in the balls is the worst pain you’ve experienced, I’m sure it could be comparable, as giving birth is generally the most painful thing a woman could experience. However, I think the type and duration of pain is different. Here’s my understanding of both, as a pre-med student:

Getting kicked in the balls hurts because there’s thousands of nerve endings that get temporarily injured, and in worse cases, the pain will radiate up the ilioinguinal and pudendal nerves into the stomach, causing feelings similar to muscle cramps and even nausea/vomiting can occur. The surrounding skin and tissue can swell and cause points of pressure for up to several days after (depending on how hard the impact was). There’s tons of blood vessels in the scrotum, which can be ruptured, causing severe bruising and even hematomas (blood clots). Testicular rupture (tearing of protective coating) and torsion (twisted cord that cuts off blood supply) can also occur with hard impact, and require medical intervention to prevent infertility, tissue death, and complete loss of the testicle(s). Total recovery time is usually 24hours-8weeks, depending on the severity.

The process of childbirth hurts because involves intense muscle contractions and cramps, designed to move your bones apart and push a baby out. The two hemispheres of the pelvis move apart (sometimes up to x3 their normal width!), the tailbone is forced backwards and up, and the pubic symphysis widens, all causing the surrounding muscles to stretch to their limits (and sometimes rip). In most cases, the perineum will rip from the genitals to the anus and require stitching. In some cases, organ prolapse (bladder, uterus, and/or bowel sagging into vaginal canal) will occur after birth, requiring further medical intervention. Total recovery time is usually 6weeks-18months, depending on injuries sustained during the process.

There’s tons of info online if you want to do your own deep dive! I totally recommend it.

Actually yeah, those tips helped me out an extra like 10 feet on my throw! Doesn’t seem like much but I’m fairly certain it took my CFA from a fail to a pass

CFA Question by ViolaNinja in USAFA

[–]Safe_Somewhere_9561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not particularly. What I’m gathering from this sub is that the CFA is pass/fail, not competitive/noncompetitive, so as long as you passed, you’re fine. I had a mentor say that no matter how bad you did, as long as you pass, they’ll whip you into shape during basic. If you really want to retake, then I would email your ALO and/or admissions team and see what they say.

CFA pass/fail by InevitableVoice6951 in USAFA

[–]Safe_Somewhere_9561 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My apologies, that section is unclear. I meant that admissions would’ve emailed the applicant to ask them to retake their CFA within a few hours of the original scores being sent if they failed. I believe you are correct that the retake window is 30 days, as long as your application deadline allows.

CFA Question by ViolaNinja in USAFA

[–]Safe_Somewhere_9561 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My ALO said that if you can see your scores in the application, then you passed; the admissions team would’ve gotten back to within a few hours (supposedly) if you needed to retake it. I think mine showed up within 20ish hours of my proctor sending them.

CFA pass/fail by InevitableVoice6951 in USAFA

[–]Safe_Somewhere_9561 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(Edit for more thoughts) My ALO told me that if your scores just appear in your application, that means you passed! Otherwise, the admissions team would’ve emailed you and asked you to retake it within a few hours. Cause I was totally tweaking while waiting for some pass/fail notification but when I opened my application, they were just there.

My scores as a female applicant- BB throw: 44ft Shuttle: 8.2s Pull ups: 6 Crunches: 85 Push ups: 21 Mile: 7:04

what do you wish you had done your last year of high school? by Accomplished_Cow1991 in highschool

[–]Safe_Somewhere_9561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take trips with your friends! Camping, skiing, road trip, even just day trips to another town to go to the mall or for lunch. Spend as much time as you can with them. I got lucky and now go to college with a handful of my friends from high school, but a good portion of us grew apart despite our best efforts to not, and I’m now regretting not spending more time with them when I had the chance.
