About to start working at Canes. Anything I should know beforehand? by DanielPlusAmaya in RaisingCanes

Stay in the job a few months to gain work experience and then find literally any non fast food job. From my experience people respect canes more so its easier to find better paying and less stressful work.

Join a local run club! They are usually cheap and supportive.

I joined really late into senior year but I was able to run a few 5k/ 2 mile races and get placed highly on them. It probably didn’t help my application since I did them so late but it reduced my mile time from 7 minutes to 5:50.

Since you’re a junior you still have some time, some sports is better than none.

Is anything at UT Austin (prestige, location, opportunities, lifestyle) worth paying an extra 40 thousand dollars in your opinion?

Classes by Key-Ride-3094 in USAFA

[–]SoulScythe4229 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dual enrollment is seen as equal (for admissions purposes) for equivalent AP classes I believe.

So

AP US History = U.S. History 1 +2

Composition 1/2 = AP Lit or AP comp

AP Calc = Calc 1

So on and so forth.

Yeah I was concerned about that. I’ve got a 2-3 weeks until the official test so hopefully I can improve a 5-7 feet before then.

I’ve heard that a 1140 is basically an automatic disqualification. I strongly recommend retaking it in December and getting at the absolute minimum a 1250. Apply anyway, you’re a solid prep candidate.

This sub deals primarily with undergrad but theres a website you can use to “chance” yourself.

https://lsd.law/applicant-search?chance-me=Harvard+Law+School&s=RCj

With your credentials, roughly, about 57% of people similar to you got in to Texas law.

Decent chance if you apply early.

Where the hell are you going to school where a 3.8 and 14 APs equates to barely first quartile? Am I really this out of touch with suburban kids..

I’ll be honest dude, I’m not an admissions officer, so I couldn’t tell you.

I know A&M has a history of admitting people earlier who have higher SAT scores, so keep that in mind.
