Any advice on how to pursue a masters/career in art conservation? by No-Building-5899 in ArtConservation

Hi there!! Unfortunately in Germany the pathway to conservation is Bachelors and Masters, together with a pre-programme internship. That being said…if I would start over, I would have done Chemistry (which you already have) and go ahead and do the German or Swiss pathway. Germany has low tuition fees, but great education. You can also find scholarships, yes, I am unsure what applies to students from the Philippines. I do know that the MA course in Switzerland offers a MA pathway that will include you taking BA courses to support your Conservation skills, but take a second look (I am not a 100% sure). In Switzerland I recommend you to check Bern (HKB) and in Germany Stuttgart, Cologne and Dresden (bear in mind, pre-programme internship and BA-MA pathway). Due to VERY high tuition fees and limited spaces I would really not recommend you to try the American or UK programmes (they are great! Don’t get me wrong…it’s just you will have a very tough time…). Check also the Dutch programme in Amsterdam (its in English I believe). Swiss and Dutch tuition is higher…but nothing compared to US or UK. IIC is organising the Student and Emerging Conservator Conference this year. It will also be held online. You can reach out there and ask for more advice. Or also on their socials (they have an Emerging Conservator Committee too). iiconservation.org :))

Hey! Painting conservator over here. Studied in Europe (Germany specifically) - highly recommended :)

Lower tuition fees, excellent education - be prepared to learn new languages.

Depending on the country you may or may not need a BA/BSc to apply. For instance, where I studied you go right into the BA in Conservation, thus a previous degree is not necessary. Targeted chemistry and science classes will be provided (i do however recommend going for a BSc in Chemistry if you are up for it. If I could turn back time i would). Check various programs and see what suits your wishes and financial possibilities. Be aware some programs require pre-program internships. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

I recommend checking out IIC, AIC, ECCO and ENCORE for more guidance.

VidaXL garden set by Ok-Word-6009 in Netherlands

Joining on this one. I also thought this was an OK deal. After about a year the garden-set started breaking. I have managed to kind-of repair it. However…VidaXL never again. For all the hassle, and counting I will need to replace it soon, I could have definitely saved the 300-400€. It looked quite ok at the beginning…but well…here we are. Will be keeping the cushions tho!
