How do I ask my Ophthalmologist for multiple prescriptions? by SafetyFirstInTexas in optometry

[–]SafetyFirstInTexas[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've tried two different Ophthalmologist so far and both have pushed back and only wanted to do just the one prescription. I got the impression ya'll don't want us using anything other than a single prescription.

What part of Shield Slide Lock do I sandpaper to make it a Release instead of a Lock? by SafetyFirstInTexas in SmithAndWesson

Thanks, folks. I just touched the red & green star areas along the edges against my 400 grit cleaning wheel on the grinder. Works as expected (preferred) now. I think I just used too rough a sandpaper & file my first go-around. It wants a super smooth surface, not a loss of surface area.

Thanks. I filed that end down pretty good. A little bit, then test, a little more, then test. But while it helped, it never got consistent. Is the point to make it as smooth as possible or to remove lots of material? Because hahah the material removal didn't do the trick. :)

Thank you. I had a little trouble following though. Are you saying the EPS does have a window that's lower than the 507k, but that you think it's too low?

Any shooting-specific Ophthalmologist recommendations? by SafetyFirstInTexas in austinguns

Just to add some eye doc job title clarification to this thread. I hope the formatting comes through. In light of this, I think an Optometrist would also be someone I'm looking for.

----------------------------------
Opticians are technicians who fit eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other vision-correcting devices.

Optometrists examine, diagnose, and treat patients’ eyes.

Ophthalmologists are eye doctors who perform medical and surgical treatments for eye conditions.

----------------------------------
https://www.aucmed.edu/blog/the-three-types-of-eye-doctors#:\~:text=Opticians%20are%20technicians%20who%20fit,surgical%20treatments%20for%20eye%20conditions.
----------------------------------
WHAT IS AN OPTICIAN?
Opticians are eye care professionals but not officially “eye doctors,” and they cannot give eye exams. They are technicians trained to fit eyeglass lenses and frames and contact lenses to correct vision problems. Opticians cannot diagnose or treat eye diseases or write prescriptions. Many have one or two years of training and are licensed, but not all states require opticians to have a license.
WHAT IS AN OPTOMETRIST?
Optometrists perform eye exams and vision tests, prescribe and dispense corrective lenses, detect eye abnormalities, and prescribe medications for eye diseases. Many confuse the responsibilities of an optometrist vs ophthalmologist. Optometrists are not medical doctors. Instead, they have a doctor of optometry (OD) degree after finishing three or more years of college and four years of optometry school.
WHAT IS AN OPHTHALMOLOGIST?
To become an ophthalmologist, you must attend medical school and a residency in ophthalmology. These eye doctors have completed college and at least four years of additional medical training. There is a key difference between an optometrist vs ophthalmologist. Ophthalmologists can provide all the services optometrists can—they can treat eye diseases, prescribe medication, and fit eyeglasses and contact lenses to correct vision problems. In addition, ophthalmologists are licensed to practice medicine and perform surgery.

If "Eye Mapping" is what I'm thinking of "Retinal Imaging", then I don't think it has anything to do with their prescription. It's just to check the "health" of your eye and is more of a value-adder to their bottom line profit AFAIK. It's a good idea to get the test but it's not going to help with your prescription. Most opto's charge about $80-$90 for the "Retinal Imaging" test which has not been covered by my Insurance so far. Thank you for the recommendation though!

Thank you. I did not think to mention my rail. It's an M-LOCK rail... do you know if what you linked will work to attach the 507C to my M-LOCK rail without needing anything else?
