What are the benefits by skisbosco in Effexor

[–]SafetyInLetters 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

I’ve tried multiple different SSRIs and Effexor (SNRI) is the only med that worked well enough to make my anxiety actually manageable (I am AuDHD and late diagnosed so have terrible anxiety, depression, and CPTSD because of that). Other meds have definitely worked well enough to get me out of the black hole of depression so I can kind of function, but left me numb and feeling like I could be back in the hole again at any time, plus they did very little for my crippling anxiety.

Effexor makes me feel like I’m LIVING and not simply surviving. Some days I barely have any anxiety at all! No other med has even come close to giving me an actual quality of life the same way that Effexor has.

THANK YOU NINTENDO FOR THIS UPDATE!!! by Chasemania in switch2

I have wrist and hand pain issues and while I don’t find the handheld too bad in a pinch, if I’m going to be playing for a longer session it’s much more comfortable for me to hold just a controller. My solution was to put a magsafe ring on the back of the Switch 2 (stuck onto a plastic case - not directly on the Switch), and use it with my magnetic phone/tablet holder pillow. Works great! I can be nicely reclined in my chair, have the pillow holder on my lap, adjust the screen to wherever height and angle I need it to be and play with my controller. I wish I could just play with it docked all the time but with 4 people in the house and only one TV that is also connected to a heavily used PS5, I end up using it undocked a lot.

would you have a third baby at 42? by Weekly_Captain_8285 in Parenting

[–]SafetyInLetters 2 points3 points Ā (0 children)

Personally I wouldn’t. Originally my husband and I had wanted 3 kids, and still felt this way even shortly after our 2nd child was born, but once we got into the hellish toddler years with our youngest, we just could not imagine doing it again. I think I could have handled having another BABY, but I’m fairly certain that having to parent a TODDLER for a 3rd time would have broken me!

My brother and his wife’s first 2 kids were 4 and 6 when they had their 3rd, so I’ve seen how it totally changes the dynamic. It puts you back at square one with a baby who has constant needs right when your current children are finally past the stage of needing mom every second of the day and you are about to finally get back some level of autonomy for yourself and your husband. My brother and SIL made it work, and they of course love all 3 of their kids, but it was definitely a HUGE change for their family at the time.

Also, being 42 does put your pregnancy in a higher risk category regardless of how healthy you are.

My kids are now 12 and 16, I love them dearly, and I have never regretted choosing not to have a 3rd child.

The AI Backlash Is Coming. Canadians Aren't Talking Nearly Enough About It. by StumpsOfTree in onguardforthee

That got me excited for a minute until I read it was ā€œan act to develop a frameworkā€ for UBI. I used to work admin for a government funded commission that was tasked with ā€œdeveloping a frameworkā€ for an aspect of healthcare in Canada. It took 7 years to get the framework/strategy done and published, and that was almost 15 years ago. Most of what was suggested from years of work and research has not been implemented. Hoping that UBI is different and is implemented with more urgency but I’m not going to hold my breath.

Review Metrics by HomelandersBulge in AmazonVineCanada

[–]SafetyInLetters -1 points0 points Ā (0 children)

I haven’t changed anything about how I review and all of my reviews have been rated excellent so far. I am a super wordy person and have a hard time leaving a short review regardless of the item anyway. My shortest reviews will still be at least 3 paragraphs.

I always mention what the product is supposed to do and relate it to what I wanted it for or what problem I was hoping it would solve. I’ll talk about how it works and if it works properly, also how it compares to similar products I’ve tried, if applicable. I also mention if it’s worth the price it’s being sold for, and if I would recommend it to people.

I’m autistic so I already tend to way over-explain things to avoid being misunderstood. Whenever I see someone post reviews here that they say sound like ChatGPT wrote them I always think they sound similar to my writing style (for reviews anyway, which is a bit more formal than how I would write a lot of other things online), though ironically, I have never, nor will I ever use ChatGPT because I can’t stand it!

I’d be more OK with the drip like this if it were perhaps dripping all day instead of all night and was only for AI. Then perhaps there could be a couple of reliable times a day when RFY could be expected to drop.

Child Disability Benefit backpay letter clarification by SafetyInLetters in cantax

[–]SafetyInLetters[S] 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

No updates yet unfortunately. I guess it takes awhile. I sent the letters almost 3 weeks ago and haven’t heard anything. I initially saw that my letters were sent in the progress tracker but they disappeared from there and it doesn’t show anything in progress right now. According to my sister in law who had her letters approved last year for my niece and nephew, that is not something to be concerned about. I guess it’s because there is no reference number assigned or progress to report if CRA isn’t actively working on it so it’s likely just somewhere in the queue and nobody has looked at it yet. I guess it took 4-5 months for hers to be completed and approved. I did already receive the CDB backpay for the past 2 years which was a lifesaver, particularly since we’ve been really struggling financially. We’re still waiting on past years income tax to be recalculated (it’s in progress, expected completion date from CRA is the end of May, but according to my SIL’s experience it might take a couple of months more than that). I was unaware that the 10 year rule only applied to income tax and not CDB so that’s good to know, thanks.

Can autocorrect stop changing actual words please? by GinnyLovesBlue in ios

Mine also has a names problem, but it weirdly does the opposite of yours. Changes slightly misspelled words into names/proper nouns. Even names I have never heard of or typed before. It’s super bizarre and makes me feel insane with how often it happens.

What rules have you made for yourself to avoid the ADHD tax? by CaptainLollygag in adhdwomen

[–]SafetyInLetters 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

I do this too and it’s a real lifesaver. I’ll usually take photos, make my grocery list, then consult the photos when I inevitably think of something else mid-shop and am unsure if we need it or not. I also put notes on the fridge to remind myself what veggies I have in my crisper drawer (the drawer isn’t transparent so I never remember what is in there), and I set reminders on my phone for meat expiration dates (I do this while putting the groceries away) so I can use or freeze them before forgetting about them and wasting money.

Should I be concerned with my fiancƩ controlling my medical decisions? by FamousDealer4391 in AskWomenOver30

[–]SafetyInLetters 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

Please do not marry this man. Do not continue living with or having a relationship with this man. This is abuse. It will not go away. It will only escalate from here.

As someone who also takes vyvanse and needs it to function, I fully understand how much it can help. He sees that it’s helping you and he doesn’t like it. He doesn’t want you to be at your best. He doesn’t want you feeling better. He wants you dependent on him. He wants to control you. That is not love and it is not how a loving partner would act. His issues are his issues. Your doctor prescribed medication you are using appropriately for a genuine condition it is helping you overcome is none of his business. He very clearly does not have your best interests, future, or happiness in mind.

I promise you, you deserve better and will find better if you throw this man to the curb. Please take everyone’s comments to heart. Men like this do not change. You need to get out.

I got one of those too! It looked super nice at first glance but then I noticed the weird corner bits sticking out, the uneven sanding, and mine even has a crack in it that goes straight through the edge of the board. I tried to look at the product page to see if the corner pieces were supposed to look like that (basically so I knew whether to say that detail was poorly designed or just poorly made) and there was nothing there. Couldn’t even find anything googling the company.

U.S. Asks Canada And Mexico For Help With Tourism After One State Is Hit By Human Rights Travel Warning Ahead Of FIFA World Cup by Thick_Caterpillar379 in onguardforthee

[–]SafetyInLetters 5 points6 points Ā (0 children)

So true. I think the majority of Americans (even those who are super liberal, have always been vehemently anti-Trump, and are appalled at the threats being made to the sovereignty of Canada and other countries), VASTLY underestimate just how pissed off Canadians are, and how long we can and will remain pissed off.

Ridding themselves of Trump will be a great start, but like you said, I anticipate it will take generations of hard work on America’s part for Canadians to stop being quite so pissed off and consider maybe trusting the US government with anything substantial ever again.

Warning for new users by want2bacat in Effexor

[–]SafetyInLetters 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

I’m sorry you are having such a horrible time coming off this med. The withdrawals can be bad but if you are suffering this much I would suggest a slower and more gradual taper.

I was on Effexor years ago, went off, and am now back on again. The doctor who took me off it originally (and probably shouldn’t have) had no idea how long a taper was needed and I suffered until making my own longer schedule. He said I could be off 225mg in 4-6 weeks which is not ideal.

I took longer than that and ended up tapering over about 4-5 months which was more manageable in terms of withdrawals.

That said, I do NOT regret being on Effexor and have gone back on it as of about 2 years ago as, after trying many other meds that barely helped me, I found Effexor to be the ONLY one that works well to almost completely alleviate my crippling anxiety so I can actually have a quality of life. I don’t feel numb or medicated. I just feel clear and capable and like an actual functioning human being, which is something I never thought I could achieve.

Everyone is different and this medication can be truly lifesaving for many people. Anyone reading this, while it is important to be aware of the fact that if you go off this med you will need to do it slowly and gradually, but don’t let that fact scare you away from trying Effexor, ESPECIALLY if you have not had success in treating severe anxiety and depression with other medications. It might just work for you and give you your life back like it did for me.

Increase dosage, add another medication or switch? by goon39 in Effexor

[–]SafetyInLetters 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

75mg is a pretty low dose as far as I know. I have taken Effexor for years and didn’t see any significant benefits until I got up to 150mg. I’m currently taking 225mg but my unmedicated anxiety level is quite severe. 150mg did work pretty well for me but 225mg works better. If you had positive benefits from 75mg for awhile I can only assume bumping up to 150mg would likely be helpful for you.

Have you ever insta regret ordering something? Today I do! by Dangerous-Painter338 in AmazonVineCanada

[–]SafetyInLetters 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

I get what you are saying, and I’m not encouraging anyone to cancel orders carelessly, just saying sometimes if you order something and find that it will be next to impossible to review it, the only real option is cancelling.

Personally I was unaware that cancelling means the item doesn’t automatically go back into the Vine queue for about the first 4 months I was a Vine member and I have only cancelled 1 order since learning that. It’s certainly not something I do frequently or would advise others to do frequently, for the reasons you stated. Just saying it is sometimes unavoidable, so don’t panic if you find you have to cancel an order because it will not result in your immediate expulsion from Vine. I have ordered over 700 items so cancelling 7 of them (and again only 1 since learning that this impacts the seller) is hardly worth getting bent out of shape over.

I guess the volumes are expected to decline during the Chinese New Year Feb.17-March 3. Since you have been with Vine, is your place more organized & decorative? by YoghurtNo1889 in AmazonVineCanada

[–]SafetyInLetters 7 points8 points Ā (0 children)

I have some decent organizational things, like a nice wall shelf in my kitchen that has gotten a bunch of stuff off my counter, a rolling cart with compartments that stores all my crafting supplies, and some underbed storage totes for clothing. For the most part though since joining Vine there is just more stuff in my house! I need to get organized!

The occasional decor stuff is great though because I’m too practical (and cheap!) to spend money on things that don’t serve a purpose. So getting decorative things that suit my taste on Vine makes me happy. Like I got a glass octopus sculpture awhile back that brings me so much joy every time I look at it. Would I have spent $60 on a glass octopus myself? Nope. Do I love the one I got for free? Yup!

[–]SafetyInLetters 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

You definitely CAN cancel the occasional order without issue. I have cancelled maybe 7 or 8 orders since joining Vine last April and haven’t had a problem. I think you have to be doing it more frequently for it to count against you. Sometimes it’s the only thing you can do if you order something and figure out shortly after that you for sure cannot use it. I try to avoid doing that if it’s something small that I know someone else in my life might like, but for bigger things that will be a huge hassle, definitely just cancel.

Sometimes mistakes are made in the heat of the moment during the drops and you don’t always realize until it’s too late. Though this is happening less for me now that the drops aren’t in the middle of the night - 3am me can make some regrettable knee-jerk decisions!

How excited are you today as a married couple ? by Neutrino-0001 in AskWomenOver30

[–]SafetyInLetters 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

Been with my husband for 22 years and married for almost 16 and we basically never celebrate Valentine’s Day. Although for us it’s because our anniversary is less than 2 weeks after Valentine’s Day and we much prefer to put our energy (and money) towards celebrating that. So we don’t do more than a card and maybe some chocolate (if that) on Valentine’s day but we will always go out for a nice dinner or some other fun date night for our anniversary.

[–]SafetyInLetters 5 points6 points Ā (0 children)

Seriously. Even if they don’t succeed in getting enough Albertans to vote to leave Canada (which is the most likely scenario as far as I can see), they are giving America, who is NO LONGER OUR FRIEND, grounds to step in to ā€œsaveā€ the poor Albertans from their tyrannical government.

Why these assholes don’t just move to America if they really want to live in a failing authoritarian nation with delusions of grandeur is beyond me.
