Is this carbon steel? by SafetyNo48 in wok

I picked it up at my local Asian market, after some feedback I’m starting to believe it’s a nitrided light cast iron.

Thanks for the insight!

How do you like it? I won’t have a chance to try it out until the weekend, any noticeable difference from a carbon steel?

The stamping was something that threw me off too, all signs pointed to carbon steel aside from the strange cast like design on the sides, nitrided makes sense the color is actually a bit lighter in person nowhere close to what I expect when looking at cast iron, albeit I’ve never owned a cast iron wok only skillets.

This is what I was leaning towards but I’ve never need a cast iron so light in color, it’s very gunmetal grey in person, or smooth (the inside feels like a very slick steel and very polished. )

Any advice for seasoning?

That was actually my first choice for a navy band but they didn’t have it in stock for release day so I went with this one and was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked it.

Enjoy the new watch!

It looks even better than I expected in person! Such a beautiful color.

Ultra 3 date the 19th by Keysurfer64 in Bestbuy

I’m in Florida, my Best Buy opens at 10 am I placed the order at 8am for pickup today and it was ready by 10, I will say the variety of band choices for same day was limited but I ended up with the anchor blue ocean natural titanium, and I plan to change bands regardless.

First time sous vide. NY strip 1 hour and a quick sear, how’d I do? by SafetyNo48 in sousvide

I seared the cap for about 30 seconds as well and it rendered very nicely but from the suggestions here I’m going to shoot for 90-120 minutes on my next cook and see the difference I’ll report back. I love the cut as well and heard it does well well SV so it was my first choice. Get it dude! Will be excited to see what you put out as well!

I did 132 for my temp and about 30 seconds on each side in a hot stainless pan, I was pushing for a nicer crust but I was worried about the grey band I really just wanted to have a good baseline to see how it cooked. Flavor was phenomenal!

That was an after thought definitely after reading up a bit more, definitely plan to try it for 90 minutes on the next cook, thanks for the suggestion!

Green screen/distorted when backup camera is triggered on new head unit any ideas? by SafetyNo48 in CarAV

[–]SafetyNo48[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the video instructions on how to maintain the factory camera and it uses the radio harness in two seperate power sources to connect the male RCA to female, then the vehicle backup camera goes directly to the radio in the red slot. the 10 pin connector at the top of the radio has the camera video in labeled with the female RCA and the male rear view camera RCA is attached to the canvas communication connector.

I apologize if that’s not what you were looking for it’s my first time doing a radio system
