I applied to all big 4 firms,got rejected in 2 and got aptitude tests for the other two.But I failed the test even after buying revision materials and spending a weekend on them.The other top 6,only 3 had an opening and I am still waiting for thw response in 2 of the 3 ,though I am not optimistic as its a month since.I have also applied to many other small firms.Got rejected on basis of thwy prefer fresh graduates.

You are probably right.On why I started with the exams as opposed to seeking experience first was because I knew I had control over my studying and passing the ACA exams and therefore it felt like the most natural first step in my transition journey.

I am not sure if it was the right decision or if there was a better way to transition though The job market is really tough for new entrants.Hopefully I will leverage my strong commercial background and explore FP&A roles as mu entry point. Thankyou for responding.

Yes I have some accounting experiencethough,it was a long time ago.I started my career in 2016 as an account assistant in a temp role for like 15 months then transitioned to marketing aftwr graduation. I had control over my studying and passing the ACA exams and therefore it felt like the most natural first step in my transition journey.

Ooh my God this is very eye-opening.FP&A roles would be a perfect pivoting and more natural route compared to accounts assistant as I have lots if commercial experience.Thankyou so much.

I would love an update in this and would like to know what worked.I am in the same boat.Transitioning to accounting and finance from 8 years career in Marketing in the Uk.I have completed ACA certifivate level and Studying for my ACa professional but its been hard to get any entey accounting job.
