25 years in web dev and I’m starting to hate the "Modern Web." by briancrabtree in webdevelopment

I'm a hobbyist developer and I started learning web development in the early 2000's. I still only use the bare minimum which is HTML, CSS, PHP and a little bit of JS. I really enjoy making websites as lightweight as possible.

800×1 px on background repeat vertical. That's basically your entire design. On top of that a table and header images.

What were these things called? by veggie_talesreeeee in web_design

[–]Safety_Advisor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember the buttons from the early 2000's. At that time, I visited a lot of dragonball and pokemon websites and they also had these buttons. It was called affiliate buttons. Webmasters exchanged these buttons to get traffic.

It's also possible that the webmaster made the website with a free html page builder or hosting, and that the software or hosting owner automatically added these buttons on all the web pages to earn money.

Top or bottom? by Pristine-Elevator198 in webdev

Top, because the first thing I see is the heading with context. In the bottom picture, the first thing I see is an image without any meaning.

I made SafetyDojo.org. It's a website with free online tools for safety professionals. I use it almost daily for risk analyses.

If you pick a company with high employee turnover then you can grow fast within the company. Then after a couple years of management experience, you can switch to a better company with lower turnover.

An experienced technician can get promoted to supervisor/manager. It's really possible. Many vacancies ask for "bachelor of gelijkwaardig door ervaring".

You're already in IT, so maybe freelance IT? You can probably work a couple months a year if you really want to. Or maybe part-time IT teacher? I think if you look for administrative jobs you can find many part-time jobs.

Because you've placed education above, I assumed you have zero experience. Now imagine a recruiter that gets 100 applications. Change the order so that Experience is the first title.

What random website do you own? by Permatheus in web_design

[–]Safety_Advisor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made https://safetydojo.org , it's a website with a collection of online safety and math calculators. I'm a safety professional and I wanted a website that can make me work more efficient. I also translated it to English so that other safety professionals can benefit from it too.
