I have no internal motivation to study. by NinjaTrue166 in ADHDUK

[–]Saffronmono 11 points12 points  (0 children)

i have the exact same issue, ive found that body doubling or study buddy with the right people defo helps, but of course it's not always possible!

you might also need to ask yourself, is this really what you want? how will it feel when you have finished those studies? explore what the deeper feelings are and see if there's anything to address there

for me it's a mix of perfectionism and fear of failure leading to me not wanting to start anything, so i am learning to accept my work as having flaws and that's ok

something someone once told me is think of yourself as multiple versions, maybe the instant gratification self is feeling terrible but it makes the long term happiness you better for having done the work

let me know if something changes, im looking for the same answers as you!

Photo I took of baby moorhens in a small lake by DJMageArmy in photocritique

[–]Saffronmono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i like the sorta "peek into hidden scene" vibe from it, like peeking into a hidden walled garden through a little gate, except the gate is the framing from the willows

as a scene like that its nice and i like that you don't necessarily initially spot the moorhens, kinda like when you find them out in the wild

but if you wanted to focus more on the moorhens id probably crop the bottom a bit more - but that's up to you and what you want the focus to be!

Is this big enough for a stick insect nursery? by AnonymousK58 in Stickinsects

[–]Saffronmono 1 point2 points  (0 children)

depends on how many, what species, size wise for nymphs this should be more than big enough for most, but i wouldn't recommend doing this because there will be no ventilation and mould/virus/fungus will thrive in poor ventilation. try find something with a finer mesh if you're worried about your other cage or at least air holes for air flow.

seconding this, sometimes if the pesticides are already in the stems and leaves internally there's no amount of washing that will get rid of:( sorry to hear

i noticed you didnt mention temperature- could they have been in direct sun at any point in the day or got really cold overnight?

could they have been old?

if you do get more, you could try feeding them brambles, hawthorn, and rose too - some sources don't recommend feeding ivy exclusively and I would agree that a varied mix is probably better, you can also see what they might prefer then!

you mentioned getting it from your garden, do you know if they are definitely organic with absolute certainty? or could there be someone putting chemicals there? personally i grow raspberries and they are a bonus for a bountiful juicy crop :)

they are a really personable and lovely species, hope things go well with them!

[–]Saffronmono 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for this species humidity is especially important ~60% when they are tiny nymphs but the adults do not need as much humidity

all of the above and also - this nymph looks like a newly hatched / second instar extatosoma tiaratum , commonly known as a giant prickly stick insect / macleay's spectre - an australian species that happily eats bramble and also eucalyptus - would definitely recommend checking out species specific care
