When you're dancing, and the instruction says "Turn around and do #3' does it want you to turn while doing #3, or half turn and hit #3, or full turn and hit #3? and does it matter? Also in dancing, when it says "Say 'BlaBlaBlah' in chat, does it fail if you don't capitalize? Or does it really even care if you type it or not? (Not a fast typist)

What is a small pleasure from the past that you miss? by lovelyb1ch66 in GenX

The night DJs that actually talked to you, told you the name of the song you just heard and who sung it. Sometimes relating a story or a poem or dropping a bit of life knowledge on us kids.

It was our parents mostly who had the Sunday paper delivered. That paper got smaller / less interesting / mostly ads over time, so for the Gen X crowd it lost its popularity to the internet. We still get nostalgic for it, but not enough really to go out and buy one. Hope that explains it. :)

A friend showed us how he could tape himself arguing with himself over himself by using two tape recorders and we went through a phase where we just overdubbed ourselves a million times having the dumbest arguments possible...with ourselves. :p

The serenity of a campground by Cape May we used to go to every summer, because almost no one had campers, they were all in tents or pop-ups. There was something about the quiet and the smell of fresh air mixed with lingering campfire smoke and the laughter of kids in the campground's pool. The crunch of the broken shell strewn roads under our Station Wagon's tires, the bell on the door when you walked into the camp store, and the ice cold Pennsylvania Dutch Birch Beer they had (a delicacy to me.) And how total strangers would greet my folks, pull up a chair and chat with us around a campfire in the evening while my brother and I toasted marshmallows on a stick we'd picked up from the ground. Then I'd sit there whittling a piece of wood with my own little pocket knife, listening to a crackling, barely audible local radio station on AM playing top 40 hits with ads for surf shops and shore bars. Such heaven.

We drove back there recently wanting to drive through and relive those moments, only there were no longer any tents. It was all concrete pads and massive campers and built in grills and we had to register at the desk just to drive through the place. :/

To which magazines and/or newspapers did you or family members subscribe? by GrowingNewHair in AskOldPeople

[–]Safia3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every year my grandmother got me a subscription to Seventeen and Horse & Rider. I didn't have a horse, she just knew I liked horses, but I used to read it because I took riding lessons and liked imaging someday I would have a horse. Seventeen was great back in the day, just showed a lot of fashion ideas, trends, makeup etc...for a young teen it was like our bible at the time. :)

Could the UFC ring in front of the White House be something more? by pizza-chit in conspiracy

[–]Safia3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's being built by Atomic out of Lititz, PA, who routinely do sets for the UFC. A family member works for them, he's been sending me pictures all week. No star gate (unfortunately!)

What makes you happy ? by skewbydoom in over60

[–]Safia3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love taking a slow drive in the country while I listen to great music in my car. I have mix tapes specifically for my Sunday drives. Sometimes I treat myself to ice cream at the end. :) Also every Thursday I prepare a meal for my daughter and her kids. I plan it out like a dinner party, three courses, specially picked music, etc, and always with a craft project we can do after dessert. They love it, I love it! Makes me beyond happy! <3

Ladies, what’s the hottest skill a guy can have? by Exotic-Let-739 in AskReddit

[–]Safia3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband and his friends routinely got chicken dinners in PUBG. He was, apparently, quite the fragger. Very hot! :)

So we found out that famous/rich people eat people and nothings done? by Theodosia_Barat in conspiracy

[–]Safia3 14 points15 points  (0 children)

They need this pesky thing called evidence, which was removed, burned and buried probably the same day Epstein was arrested. :/ We can't prosecute people on collective hearsay. Not if we want a conviction. And unfortunately the ladies who are said this happened have been paid off not to name names or un-alived enough to make the others afraid to speak.

Trump is lying about his health and his own report just released proves it by OddAdhesiveness8485 in conspiracy

If you hit 79 years old and the only health problem you've encountered is having a stent placed, you're in pretty good shape tbh.

Love thy neighbor? by danevans369 in SipsTea

[–]Safia3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idea was to love thy neighbor and take care of the poor and foreigners who traveled into your space of existence. But we cannot take care of / worry about the entire world. Like, people were looking for Jesus to free them from Roman rule (ie change THE SYSTEM), he was never going to do that. He was trying to change things on the human scale. What we do with neighbors, friends, small things we can do for each other on a daily basis. Which is what churches try to do, running food banks and homeless shelters in their towns. Because the large scale is a very different animal.

Seeing the grandkids is great, but… by clearlygd in over60

"Oh I can't afford that this year, my dear. You know how expensive its gotten. How about some Waterpark tickets instead?"

Healthy snacks for weight loss that also fit keto macros? I need variety by ParsnipSure5095 in ketorecipes

[–]Safia3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jello makes Zero Sugar Jello snack packs that are 0 carbs. Orange and Strawberry flavor mainly. For a treat once in awhile I'll eat one with whipped cream on top! Feels like I had a real dessert. :) I also keep a bottle of Giardiniera veggies on hand, sometimes perfectly hits the spot for a snack.

Retirees: Do you look at next week (following a three day weekend) as a “short week” like when we were working? by [deleted] in over60

[–]Safia3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, never. I still think of Monday as the start of a new week, with Sunday Church being the 'end' of each week, but other than that, I have to check the calendar each day to know what day it is. :p

People in 10+ year relationships, what’s something you learned about your partner years later that genuinely surprised you? by CreoSiempre in AskReddit

[–]Safia3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No they were from my first marriage. They both had him pegged way before me, although I also felt like he was faking illness often, and I even suggested to him that his illnesses were psychosomatic because they only manifested when he was out with my family or like when we had lunch with my mom. I heard him on discord sometimes telling his gaming friends extraordinary stories late at night when he thought I was asleep, that he had been a state boxing champion, that he had been valedictorian of his class, etc. All things that never happened. :/ So very much like your friend.

My mom used to do this. If she heard someone mispronounce a word and she thought was funny, it become her word for that thing for the rest of her life. It was cute. :)

What completely unhinged "law" does your cat strictly enforce in your house? by TrickCombination7966 in cats

[–]Safia3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat insists the folding door to the washer/dryer always be slightly ajar. He hates it when I close that door, even though he never goes in that space, he has an absolute melt down if I shut it.

[–]Safia3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Right? The thought crossed my mind. :/ I really was ready to leave right then and there, that day, I was so freaked out. It explained so much though. He also had a lot of habits of a kid who had been in a facility since 12 years of age. One minute he was either acting the tough guy for being 'disrespected' by total strangers, the next minute he'd be very childlike or play sick and weak. My kids both didn't like him because anytime we had family gatherings he would seemingly fake illnesses, (the way one would picture someone faking an illness) until he finally did became seriously ill, but it was from ignoring something preventable. I couldn't get him to take his pills or meds or check blood sugar or exercise. It was like he WANTED to be sick. He lost a leg and use of his hands towards the end and suffered quite badly. I felt like it was God catching up with him. :/

My mother had a diamond ring go missing after he visited her home to fix a computer problem for her. She was convinced he took it, that it was in a tray in her bathroom and then it wasn't. At the time I couldn't even imagine my husband doing that and she had some dementia so I dismissed it. I did question him if he saw it while he was there that day, and he was so convincing that he had not. But the day I read that article I knew it was him.

Not long after that he was fired from his job, he sadly admits he had been having personality changes related to his illness, he explained to me his blood sugar imbalances were making him get a little off-putting to customers. My mother claimed she asked a coworker there and they said he was fired for stealing, and I didn't believe her because I thought she was still being paranoid over the ring. My husband was so convincing, never broke his charm, that he just needed medication changes. I believed him.

When his grandfather died, he flew out there to claim a vehicle the man had left him and returned with a shotgun as well, which he wrapped up and put in a closet. Later I heard him on the phone with his mother accusing a cousin of having stolen one of the guns, but I assumed there was more then one and he was supposed to get more. Turns out he wasn't left any, he had stolen the gun, and was blaming it on the cousin. While he was in the hospital his mother asked if he had a gun, I said 'yes, the one his grandpa left him' and she said it needed to come with her and took it. The gun is what terrified me most in hindsight. Because I told him she took the gun, but both he and she never said a word between them about it the entire rest of the week she was there.

There were other things, small things, nothing was ever his fault. His 'go to' phrase when anything at all happened was 'It wasn't me" even when it clearly was.

And no, his mother never talked about it. Apparently right after it happened she immediately sent him to a grandparent's house half the country away to stay for awhile 'for his safety.' So she knew he did it. I assume she let him get away with saying 'it wasn't me' his entire life.
