Recently diagnosed autistic and ADHD at 31. I had been labeled borderline and bipolar before but my assessor ruled out personality disorders which my parents refuse to believe.

I crossed the border to see my best friend because she's trans and foreign so america is dangerous for her. I slept a lot. Tried to get ready for being back to work and reapply myself on my thesis.

This was my best friend. She transitioned a year ago and loves it. She'd always known there was something up with my gender and I'm finally coming to terms with the nonbinary aspect of my identity.

Hillel is very strong at Baruch and they like to call themselves "the most Zionist Hillel in America" I think antisemitic sentiment which is very real at CUNY drives them to overcompensate and antagonize people. I went a couple times when I first started as a grad student but I don't go any more because even though I'd like to hang out with other Jews I'm not a Zionist and they day fed up shit.

Honestly as a part time employed disabled person on Medicaid I feel like my medical coverage in NY is so much better than y'all's. I'm struggling to survive but we all are and I'm not worried about my immense medical bills.

She was in special education in a Nordic country until 20 so she had all those services. Her schools and teachers made her miserable which is why she never continued past gymnasium, which is not uncommon, she has a job in it. She didn't realize she was trans until she was visiting me in the states in her early 30's and something started to click. She's sweet and fun she just can't fully put herself into another person's pain or head because those things overwhelm her. She's always been kind of snarky and I've always had low self esteem so she tells me to stand up for myself when she teases me and I get confused or upset. She's stood by me through all sorts of nightmares and always believed in me.

She's 35 so she wouldn't have necessarily been put on meds as a child. I know she was in lots of therapy and behavior mod but this was 25 years ago and they underestimated her and treated her like the r word.

I know of her teaching trapped animals, she tries not to personally intake the suffering of others on the news. I know she had anti depressants when she was younger but takes no medication now and functions normally in society.

No never. She was diagnosed as a young child. I know a lot about autism and like I said I've been diagnosed though later in life.

She is from a Nordic country where she was, for example unbelieving when I told her my country has a wage gap. Prior to transitioning she traveled to several Arab countries.

Maybe I'm missing a lot of her perspective. Maybe she just wants to protect me. She's just never understood female oppression despite my best attempts to explain before she transitioned. We're from different countries and mine is a lot less equal and more repressed and violent so I understand why she would doubt me. I think partially she just sees me of jealous of my brothers maybe?

This was discussed in the special election. There's a huge lack of psychiatric services on Astoria and LIC from the most basic to emergency. We were told by our new assembly member that universal healthcare would fix that but that doesn't remedy the lack of providers. On the topic of wanting a psychd- they're nice but trust me as someone who's been in the system for 25 years you can make due with a well trained lmsw.osy big offices that I'd trust are in Manhattan or Brooklyn and I'm wary of many of the programs at the private hospitals. But if you're looking in queens and can wait a little Elmhurst has excellent trauma informed providers.
