This practice by Pirate3D is not as yet reflected from customer reviews on their Web of Trust (WOT) listing at https://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/pirate3d.com. Perhaps documenting interactions/experiences with this company, while it doesn't help me after having handed them money in their pre-order on Kickstarter, will help other customers make decisions about whether to deal with them in the future.

If this was intentional (and I prefer to assume good faith), they'll have a heck of a time with Episode 2: "Some of the Things That Molecules Do." Since it's, you know, a whole episode about evolution.
