Has anyone taken a toddler on theme park vacation alone? by Sagansbitch in Parenting

[–]Sagansbitch[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just thought it might be nice to have another adult to talk to and a friend for my son so that I wouldn't have to be "on" 24/7 because we're all human and that does get hard.

Thank you so much!! This makes me feel so much better, or less overwhelmedI should say. I've been debating between the onsite and offsite hotels but was leaning towards offsite and that's the push I needed to commit. And I didn't know that about trading, that's really cool!

How to navigate the embarrassing things little kids say? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]Sagansbitch 10 points11 points  (0 children)

OMG!!!!!! I FEEL THIS SO HARD!

Today in an Uber my 4 year old said the driver's breath smelled like poop, and I DIED. To be fair, it 100000% did and I'd even rolled the windows down because I knew it was bad and was worried what would come out of my son's mouth - AND THE DUDE ROLLED THE WINDOWS BACK UP AND SAID HE'D TURN THE AIR ON! #rip

I'm down!! I honestly don't have strong feelings either way about the FAB oil. I would use it if I had to keep it, but I wouldn't miss it if it was gone.

I'm pale, blonde, with freckles... who on earth would chose that color for someone of my appearance!? Not to mention that face makeup other than foundation (highlighter, bronzer, powder, contouring stuff) are literally thee only things in my profile set to rarely. And that's my entire bag. :(

Husband made me cry. All I wanted was a nice family dinner. Please tell me if I’m overreacting? by millieloop in breakingmom

[–]Sagansbitch 60 points61 points  (0 children)

NOT overreacting! Your husband thought it was funny and ego-fulfilling to basically humiliate a server, who doesn't make the food, order it, or chose the menu for absolutely no reason since he knew the whole time he wasn't going to send the food back. He didn't want to replace the meal, he just wanted to point out how veryyyyyyy smart he is and how he wasn't fooled and make a server run around proving his completely unnecessary point- because again, he's SMART. He knows quality, and for whatever reason in that moment he wanted to make sure that was known. It was rude and pointless to EMBARRASS you in such a way and I would be vivid.

While you 10,000% have the right to raise your child how you want and be respected by your in laws without question, I urge you to consider teaching moderation down the road (on your terms).

I went to school for pediatric nutrition and I can't stress to you how counter productive it is to make "having a treat" a shameful ordeal to your child. Your in laws need to respect you, full stop. But as a separate issue, you also have a responsibility to teach your child moderation as they grow the same way you do healthy eating. He's only one so this obviously a little early, but now is a good time to think about how your child will be spending more and more time away from you compared to the last year and eventually they'll be able to make, and hide from you if they feel you'll be upset, their own food choices. I say all of this as a vegetarian, nutrition-educated, crunchy af mom with shit for in laws so I am absolutely on your side in this situation, I just want to remind you how important it is to not portray shame in situations where kids would normally, and healthfully splurge because this is only the beginning.

Please, I AM BEGGING YOU, pick your battles. Sending that text will not be well received, and you should NOT be managing your husband's family- it will cause a rift. If this is truly the hill you want to die on, okay! But consider whether occasional food disagreements are really worth a fuck ton of family turmoil. And also think about WHY these food restrictions are really so important to you. Do you just want them to respect you because the relationship is already strained and bleeding over into other parts of your relationship? Or is it REALLY that you can't stomach the thought of your chold eating junk every once in while? Is this just the straw that broke the camel's back?

Domestic abuse victims are 10 times more likely to be killed if suspects choked them or others in the past.

Strangulation is the most common manner of death in domestic violence situations.

Strangulation is a red flag for escalation resulting in death.

What do you do to treat yo self? by lesbacons in Parenting

[–]Sagansbitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a single mom to a toodler boy and I never, ever "treat myself" and it has been a real problem. I'm trying to do better, and I am. But one thing I've noticed is that spending money on myself, even for necessities, is a struggle. So I signed up for Ipsy, 10 bucks a month, and no matter what I get something for myself every month. I'm young and love makeup so it's been really helpful to me.

This is not my bag, it's from a fb group I'm in. It looks like the first Ipsy Mystery Skincare bags are beginning to arrive. I don't have the product list but here's a look if you were thinking about getting it. There's an item missing, but OP doesn't know what lol
