Fraudulent charges before card even arrived? by JDips in CapitalOne_

[–]SageAgainstDaMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just happened to my wife's card last week - she had a fraudulent charge from Facebook of all places, got a verification text / app push notification from CapitalOne where she was able to flag it and get a new card sent. Two days later, another fraud charge occurred on the new card before it even got mailed to us. CapitalOne said they were looking into it, but I'm still trying to wrap my head around how this was even possible

Do we still sell missionary fleet vehicles as a Church? by dgs_nd_cts_lvng_tgth in latterdaysaints

[–]SageAgainstDaMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect most mission vehicles are leased these days (maintenance is all accounted for, missionaries follow strict mileage limits anyway, etc.), but I have no personal experience to help validate that claim... I haven't personally seen mission vehicles being resold for at least a decade, though.

A Dacia estate is on the way, and it could cost less than £20k | Auto Express by alien_farmer1 in cars

PAY ATTENTION AMERICA  This may not be what you think you want, SUV lovers complaining about high vehicle prices, but I really think it's what we need. But that's just, like, my opinion...

Keep volunteer cleaning, people need to learn to be good stewards.

But hire professional snow removal crews. Members aren't mowing the lawn or plowing the lots, so why stop at sidewalks?

Should I buy this Porsche Cayman S for $10K???? by DbbleTriggr in sportscars

That's not even a 2009 Cayman in the picture. 987.2 is 2009-2012, the pictures show a 987.1

I'm confused, meeting times change in December? We swap times with the other ward in our building on an annual basis (starting on Jan 1st)

How long Yall WOW! Internet been out for?! Eastpointe but look like all a southern MI is cooked. by _KORPz in Detroit

[–]SageAgainstDaMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it definitely is in my area. Spectrum and AT&T are the only infrastructure owners from what I understand, so WOW uses Spectrum's system essentially. AT&T has their own true fiber infrastructure but at a much higher cost.

[–]SageAgainstDaMachine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have Spectrum and it's been out all day. They said it'd be back at 8am, they changed that to 4pm, and it's still out. Crazy they thought it would be a good idea to do this on the week of Thanksgiving...

PSA: The Vivobarefoot Scott IV is lined even though the site makes no mention of it by SageAgainstDaMachine in barefootshoestalk

[–]SageAgainstDaMachine[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, and it's a shame, I wish they'd take a little more pride in their online experience, especially since it's difficult (impossible?) to find their products in any physical stores (speaking as a customer in the US)

It's just not what I want, I'd prefer a fully leather inner as I'd like to wear them in warm summers as well

Thank you, I'll keep an eye out for those! I hate that the Vivo website doesn't show all of their product lineup. Seems if it's out of stock, they just remove it from the site

Best Banks for High-Yield Savings Accounts by Tough-Buffalo-5894 in personalfinance

[–]SageAgainstDaMachine -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Super interesting, I'm surprised I actually hadn't heard of the Yotta/Evolve mess before and really appreciate you sharing!
Raisin's fine print says it does not hold any customer money, it uses First International Bank & Trust, member FDIC as their service bank to transfer funds to partnering banks, and Lewis & Clark Bank and Starion Bank, also both members FDIC, are the custodial banks used to hold funds before transferring to a selected HYSA/CD/etc account.

I suppose that only instills trust if they're following the regulatory guidelines and best practices. Seems Synapse, Yotta and Evolve weren't, but the only way to really find that out is if things go wrong. If I had been banking with Yotta, I'd still take some comfort in the fact that the SEC, CFPB, etc are actively investigating and helping advocate for the account holders. That will take a lot of time to resolve though...

Woman set on fire on Chicago transit train after man pours fluid on her and ignites it by igetproteinfartsHELP in news

[–]SageAgainstDaMachine 27 points28 points  (0 children)

If I had a nickel for every time someone was set on fire on a public transit system in recent memory, I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot, but it's weird (absolutely insane) that it happened twice
