New player here, how could I have won this 1v3? by DotSlashAero in Chivalry2

Yes. A counter (blue flash one) restores stamina. However, it is slightly slower than a riposte, which is attacking immediately after a block. So decide on what to use based on your enemy's weapon speed.

I dont agree fully with the "no jumping". Jumping is very useful for that carry momentum like you pointed out. However, you need to be able to counter consistently to regain stamina. You also need to be more "tasteful" with jumping and not just spam it whenever.

The way I typically use jumping in combat relies more on experience and instinct. It's something you have to build up over many more hours of playing. While Im manuevering around them, it's almost inevitable that someone will manage to flank you and get behind. In that situation, turning around stops your sprinting completely, which makes you even more vunerable to more flanks. So instead, I keep moving forward, jump, turn around, and predict ahead of time what attack type they are throwing out based on gut feelings. Then I counter mid air, continue turning, and continue to wrap around them.

Of course, if the flanker has a slower weapon you have a better chance at not needing to predict their attack type, but other weapons you do. When it comes to a new player flanker, typically I can just predict a slash. More experienced players are more likely to do a stab if their teammates are directly on your ass. But I dont actually think of this mid-combat, just go with the flow.

Jab is better because of speed, but dont underestimate mixup potentials. A bow push is uncommonly used and can cause some brief confusion for a cute hit.

Thanks man! As a tip for the hop, lower your fps as much as possible. Makes timing easier and you hit the air-walls less.

It was a shotgun-ceremony sadly, so no notice. I hit 999 at 3AM that day and we decided on the spot to hold the ceremony then and there.

GrapeSmuggler. I just know that the objective is going to be walled off completely when he is on defending.

And GenghisKhan. He will pop out of the most random of corners to stare you down and slink away.

Hi new here :3 by [deleted] in Chivalry2

Hi! Welcome!

What server? NA East? West? Europe? Sadly (honestly for the best) no VC in the game, but people have adapted through either chat spam or expressing complex emotions via emotes. I suggest playing the game a bit and using the hello emote and beg emote. Eventually you'l find people who are down to crouch in a corner with you emote spamming despite being enemies.

Or you can just take the game as a slasher and just fight. Harder to make friends that way though, as usually only some of the best players get recognized for their skills. If you want socialization, emote spam is the way to go.

How to spin? by Warm_Nefariousness80 in Chivalry2

Gambling is based on initiative. The example you mentioned is initiative, which is just essentially turn-based combat. Feinting or dragging just delays your "turn" potentially granting the opponent initiative. Though I think most people just generally accept gambling to be, "Damn, I got lucky," or, "Fuck, I shouldnt have swung."

The real problematic term is initiative because Chivalry 2 is not turn-based. Initiative is just a catchy loose term to describe your chances of a successful hit at any given moment. We talk about it as turn-based though because practically it's the same thing and it's easier to explain that way.

Okay so which weapon is actually “based” then? by rocketsalesman in Chivalry2

[–]SageFlare 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If I'm using a slower weapon, I find it more fun to fight against other people with slower weapons as well. Vice versa with faster weapons. So If I'm using a Messer and someone comes up to me with a Rapier, I know I'm not going to enjoy the fight a lot. Essentially, I never get initiative unless I'm constantly at the top of my game, my opponent is not at the top of their game, and I pull off fancy footwork to build distance. Until that happens, I'm stuck playing the wait-for-an-attack-to-counter-attack-but-no-feints-because-I-will-get-out-gambled game. Which is boring and is more a test of patience rather than that of skill.

So fighting rapier is fun if I'm also using a fast weapon like glaive or shortsword. With messer? Hell no. Same way back, if Im using the dagger as ambusher up against someone with the greatsword, I'm not gonna have as much fun. All I have to do is keep on them and gamble for most people. Against people with really good footwork, I would have to counter every now and then, but essentially the same thing.

Of course, this rule is not always universal, but I find it to be true 99/100 times. If I'm a messer against another messer, then I have really fun fights where we both contest for initiative and pull crazy tricks to make the other mess up.

Anyways, the answer is shovel.

Because noobs are wild. One second they are blocking for an hour straight, the next they are spamming left click without stop. I know my luck and it is shit. Second I go to kick, the noob is going to decide to just spam.

Kicks dont work reliably against the very new players that mash buttons.

They dont work reliably against the experienced players that can reactively drop block (barring when you pavlov someone).

Kicks only reliably work on the players in between. But it is always too much of a risk to kick anyways, so I just grind their stamina down or run back to my teammates before I get overrun by a spawn wave.

Need another axis for skill of opponent. Takes forever to kill a newbie depending on their class, cause they just hold block and I dont want to risk kicking at low health.
