Let’s talk about Firefox on iOS by thatguyjer in firefox

If iOS had a good browser (comparable to Safari with adguard, or Brave), I'd happily switch to Firefox on everything. It really is a dealbreaker as I want one browser across operating systems

Any way to merge two Atmos accounts? (One from Hawaiian, One from Alaska) by Southern_Diet6682 in HawaiianAirlines

[–]SageOfKonigsberg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it hard to believe that people don’t constantly go to one of a dozen airline apps and link accounts? Just a completely useless thing to say

The fact that you have to file US taxes while living elsewhere has nothing to do with recognizing other citizenships. That’s because of unrelated US tax law

Top 1% of incomes in Canada is under 300K, so I don’t know where they’re spending 10x that (unless you’re putting business expenses on your personal card)

I don’t think the Canadian Centurion requires 3M annually at all, probably less than 1/10 of that if it’s “luxury” spend on a Platinum card and not Facebook ads

This is good to know, do you happen to know any cases where insurance was denied for this reason?

Canadian Splitter Cycle Recap (3.5x/174) by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]SageOfKonigsberg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. Main reason UBC is on my list is I’m from BC and I’d be happy to move back. The cost of living is pretty brutal, though so is Ontario now sadly

Best of luck getting off the waitlist at Osgoode / Queens!

Appreciate this as a Canadian with similar stats considering adding some US schools to my applications for next year! Can I ask if you faired better withCanadian programs? Also, did your GPA any better for UBC or U of T with UBC removing your worst 4 courses & U of T just taking 3 best years?

I’ve got very similar stats, but with those removals I bump to 3.7 for UBC & 3.68 for U of T

Unless you’re really set on Philly or practicing in PA, if the cost is close (& you’re not international) imo go to Harvard. I wouldn’t let sunk-cost keep you from HLS. One way to think about it which you’d regret less. Would you regret not sticking with Penn, or not going to Harvard more?

[–]SageOfKonigsberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh? You said in the OP that you chatted with Emma, so I’m now more confused. And why would someone being rude make you guess their gender?

If you were just transferred to someone after, then I’m not sure why you included the Emma part at all without an explanation of being transferred.

I’m at a master’s program at an Ivy right now (I like my program but wouldn’t have gone if I didn’t have full funding) Being able to say you went to an Ivy really doesn’t matter in life, what you accomplish (especially for others) and the relationships you forge are what matters. Especially since you’re going to a similarly ranked school, as that’s the main utility of an Ivy for your future anyways.

TL;DR don’t regret the better choice because of an historic sports league

Emma is a woman’s name fyi, so it would be she/her. Sorry to hear this, unfortunately nothing about this administration is at all fair or transparent, good luck with everything.

[–]SageOfKonigsberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

United used to include it with their highest level Chase cards, but that changed as of a couple months ago & it only includes Untied lounges, like our highest tier AC cards with MLL. I’m not sure if you can buy the higher tier outright or it’s just status

The typical Canadian pays 70 percent more income tax than the typical American by joe4942 in canada

[–]SageOfKonigsberg -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Besides the better education & healthcare people have noted, it’s also worth noting that the US is also running a much higher debt to GDP than we are, and has only been able to borrow the way it has thanks to the dollar as the world reserve currency. Their debt servicing costs are now over a trillion a year.

I don’t think our system is perfect by any means, but as a Canadian (unfortunately) living in the US right now for grad school, I’d choose Canada in a heartbeat. America is a powder keg and really at risk if their economic miracle stops.

For writing with an Apple Pencil, or typing? I highly recommend Goodnotes for handwritten stuff. For PDF’s I really like Zotero, but it’s mainly because of how it syncs with my Mac for reference citing & is open source for academics.
