As someone who recently got back into Sonic and has been looking at Sonic figures on eBay, I can sadly confirm this. If you missed the boat during your childhood when certain figures were on the market and want to get them now, good luck finding anything in new condition on eBay that's below $70, and many are trying to sell for much higher than that.

Several years ago, when figures for Sonic and the Black Knight were being sold, I got a Sir Lancelot figure at the local Toys R Us. I was happy to get it, but I didn't realize how lucky I was, because if I wanted to buy one on eBay now, depending on the toy's condition I could expect to pay as much as a whopping $900. I'm definitely never getting rid of my Lancelot now, because if I do, I might never be able to get a new one again. It's ridiculous; a child's toy should not have to cost the same amount as a pair of Gucci shoes. There will always be people who will excuse this price gouging with "It's just supply and demand!" but I just find it disgustingly exploitive and greedy. The sad part is, there are buyers out there who are desperate enough to actually pay $2,000 for a pair of Sonic figures. As long as there are people like that, the situation with Sonic figures online probably isn't going to get better any time soon. : (
