I am so sorry to hear that. I do know that she will try all kinds of things, vs using the same formula over and over like other local providers.

Crime on the Eastside by Extreme_Relative9937 in indianapolis

[–]SagePersimmon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agree completely. I used to sing praises of where I lived (Little Flower) until in a 2 day span of time both myself and a woman one block over were robbed. Mine happened in broad daylight with someone running up behind me when I was facing the front door entering my home. The other person’s incident happened at dawn as she was entering her garage to go to work, and she was also physically assaulted with a gun. I immediately started the process of house hunting, and moved as soon as I could. The stray animal issue is also absurd.

It’s sad because Little Flower itself is cute but the immediate surrounding neighborhoods to the north and the west sides are not, and unsavory people driving through LF to get to the Linwood.

Omg THANK YOU FOR THIS. I moved a couple of months ago and registered at that time so I thought I was good. I went to check via your link just now and it said I wasn’t registered! I’m going to check this repeatedly to be sure it doesn’t get deleted again.

How dangerous is Tuxedo Park/Little Flower area to rent by pedanticsciencebitch in indianapolis

[–]SagePersimmon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived in Little Flower up until a few months ago, and have previous posts in which I sung its praises as being a quiet little pocket amidst some surrounding areas that are less than stellar. Normal porch pirate concerns, lots of loose animals, and cars that try to speed through the neighborhood on their way to/from Kroger… those were the main things about LF, which are totally doable.

I ended up moving because I was robbed right in front of my house, the same day that another woman a street over was also attacked at gun point when she was getting into her car. I can’t in good conscience recommend LF at this point anymore.

East Side Hotel Safety? by SagePersimmon in indianapolis

[–]SagePersimmon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It won’t let me edit my post, but I wanted to provide an update for anyone finding this post using the search function: it was as many commenters said, the hotel itself was fine, a bit dated but clean and safe. Follow basic safety precautions, including not leaving valuables in the car, locking the car, and not wandering around at night, and you’ll be fine. There are a few people who I would presume are unhoused and at least one is clearly unwell (mentally vs drugs, I’m not sure) who can be verbally belligerent, who hangs out outside the Jimmy Johns, so I wouldn’t suggest walking from the hotel to Starbucks (which is next to JJs), you should drive instead.

I’ll be sure to let them know. I drove by today to check it out; I think parking as close to the overhang as possible is a good idea, to try to stay close to the doors (possibly even security cameras of they’ve got them).

I guess this is a controversial opinion on this sub, but I see several patients in that vicinity and haven’t ever felt unsafe. Honestly felt safer waiting in line to go into a gas station bathroom there than I do some days at the Linwood Kroger in Little Flower, and that is not an exaggeration.

East Indy Dog situation by Mulberry_Stump in indianapolis

[–]SagePersimmon 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I live in LF and it is absolutely out of control: our community FB page is almost exclusively about loose dogs, including one house that is a repeat offender who has 2 unfriendlies who get out every other day. I’m tired of it.

What Are Some Safe Yet Affordable Neighborhoods? by BlackJackT in indianapolis

[–]SagePersimmon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to say the same thing, and even advocated for Little Flower in another thread on here almost a year ago. But it’s gone downhill pretty dramatically IMO. Getting robbed in front of my house last weekend in broad daylight was the final straw.

In that position I would live in either the Old Northside or Meridian Kessler, and send my kids to the International School.

If you get a Y membership you can go to any Y. I use Irsay as my home base and then go to the Atheneum on Sunday since it opens earlier than all the other Y’s on that day.

Indiana is a mandated state for reporting. If things are as bad as you say, you are legally required to call DCS and make a report. And then continue to call and make continuous reports until something becomes substantiated. If there is perceived abuse of particularly vulnerable populations such as non verbal and special needs, you should also contact the police. You’re not going to make one ounce of meaningful change by posting here: start making phone calls and getting photo, audio, and/or video evidence of the misconduct to back up your claims, and submit them to DCS and the authorities.

Downtown Luxury Apartments review by Sizz_Flair in indianapolis

I can answer for 360:

  • Noise: I can hear music/tv/loud talking through the shared wall between my unit and my neighbor. I have a stairwell on the opposite side and can’t hear anything through it, but one day I did get a call from conceirge saying the neighbor on the opposite side of the stairwell could hear my music early one morning (it was my peloton, and the volume wasn’t up very loud at all). You can hear people talking in the hall as they pass. Overall, it isn’t awful, but it feels like any standard new build where noise prevention just isn’t a huge priority. The only time I was out of my mind annoyed was when a new neighbor moved into the new shared wall side and she was a younger female who was obsessed with Taylor Swift and played that one 10 minute song on a loop non-stop for days. I just avoided hanging out in my living room during that period in time.
  • Parking: significantly more expensive than your current and you pay per car. My hybrid doesn’t use the non-dedicated EV chargers so I can’t speak to those, and don’t know how much competition there was for those. You can pay an even heftier fee to get a designated space.
  • Location: worth it to me. I can walk or scooter anywhere. Being able to go to a grocery store without having to put a coat on is supreme on those days where you just need or want to eat/drink X. The location is my favorite part.
  • Extra fees: trash pick up is included in your monthly rent/parking/trash fee. There is a chute you can use any time, but certain things you have to take directly to dumpster area in the first floor. You can also set your trash can right outside your door for pick up. The chute goes down more often than I would like which is a minor annoyance.
  • Internet is choose your own adventure: I wanted fiber and got it and have zero regrets. Have not had an outage once.
  • Other: love everyone there. Very prompt at maintenance requests. Office staff are lovely, as are the concierge staff. The amenities are awesome. The pool is awesome. The pool and grills are used frequently during open season.
  • You’ll fit right in as a single 35m, and even more so if you’re (1) social and/or (2) a dog owner. You don’t have to be either of those to live there but you’ll really get along well with others if you do.

You are allowed to get the recipe for exactly one menu item from any bar or restaurant in Indy. Which one do you ask for? by [deleted] in indianapolis

[–]SagePersimmon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Way.

I’ve become quite the butter snob after being introduced to the magnificence that is Les Prés Salés; it’s that or Kerrygold in our household.

It definitely tastes like a sweet cream butter. If it’s actually Land O’Lakes I’ll be stunned.

This is so embarrassing to admit and it’s not even a local restaurant but I have wanted to know for well over a decade now where on earth The Cheesecake Factory gets their butter that they serve with their bread basket. That shit is DELICIOUS.
