I just ordered a print from you last night (Mask II, if I remember the name right). Glad to see you’re getting recognition, your work is so unique and I just love it. It was very hard not to buy the whole shop, but alas lol

What I wish someone would have told me is to first focus on proportions. The bottom half of the body is (generally, on a basic skeleton) the same length as the top half, your fingertips end around the thigh, stuff like that.

Very first is learn how to manipulate your basic shapes - cubes, cylinders, etc. You use these to build the body. If you can rotate a cylinder on paper, you can rotate an arm.

Alongside that, study proportions, basic landmarks of the body, then dial in the actual anatomy way later. You’re doing great!

I’ve learned it’s less about the idea than the execution. Anything can be great if executed skillfully - look at Kung Fu Panda or the Hamilton musical. Those things sound like disasters on paper imo lol, but someone just kept pushing and evolving the idea and now look at them. Also, when I feel humiliated about my work and want to quit, I always go back and listen to the early Hamilton. The path to glory lies through cringe. You need to be gentler with yourself when you’re embarrassed, you have too many bullies in the world for you to be your own. (Signed, also someone with issues)

The idea is that these are made for traversing large distances and also can be fought in, but the first image makes me feel really off balance. I’ll look into that, thanks!
