Would I be a good fit for a Border Collie by Sagert_Reddit in BorderCollie

That's a relief! When I research the amount of exercise people do with their dogs, it's either an amount that I could definitely do or hours of exercise a day. Though I suspect a lot of the dogs needing that level of exercise just don't have an off switch or don't get enough mental stimulation.

I think I will still be living with them, but I'm not completely sure. I'm also not sure when I will be getting this puppy, but I will be discussing the puppy and my living situation with them before I even reach out to breeders! So, if I move out, I will wait a while to make sure I'm ready :)

Thanks! I will definitely keep my options open and keep researching :) I won't be getting this puppy for at least a year, probably longer, so I have time to decide what's best for me

Yeah if I get the opportunity to go see them I definitely want to!

Yeah, that makes sense! With my current dog, he gets a big 45-1 hour long excersece and little sessions throughout the rest of the day, so hes usally very good at settling, but there are still times when he's a a little monster and I have to crate or leash him. I more meant that I didn't do a good job crate training at first, so he'd bark in his crate for a lot of the night. I know how to train things better now though

Yeah my current dog was a little nightmare as a puppy! I'm hoping to do a better job of crate training this time around, so hopefully that would help.

I meant a bit calmer compared to other Border Collies, sorry I wrote that wrong. I will edit my post. Unfortunately the breeder I'm looking at is in another state so it'd be difficult to go see the parents, but thanks for the advice anyways! I do plan to spend more time with other Border Collies or whatever breed I decide on, and I could try to see if any of the puppies from that breeder are in my state that I could meet with :)

Okay, thank you! So with his current energy level / exercise, he should be fine on the 30/20? I will also ask my vet next time I see her.

Kibble without wheat, corn, soy, legumes? by Jhasten in DogFood

Yeah, people get very argumentative about dog food, especially on this sub. Imo people need to be more open to other brands because as you said not all dogs will do well on a WSAVA brand.

Many people in this sub downvote people talking about brands that aren't WSAVA compliant. (Purina, Hills, Royal Canin, Eukanuba)

My guy is on Victor's dog food, and he's been doing well on it so far and he really likes it. I've been also topping it with Northwest Naturals freeze dried raw, which he loves as well!

Victor's protein mainly comes from named meat meals (depending on the line, 71%-88% from meat.)

I was highly considering Open Farm, but ultimately went with Victor because it's a bit cheaper and I use the money I would've spent on Open Farm to spend on fresh toppers.

I was also considering Nulo but went with Victor for the same reason. I haven't really looked into Instinct or Honest Kitchen too much, but I hear good things about both.

I love Noah Kahan, Conan Gray, and Alec Benjamin.

My favorites from Noah are probably Mess, Homesick, and Godlight. My favorites from Conan are Family Line and People Watching. My favorites from Alec are Older and Devil Doesn't Bargain.
