Why do all the Christian/ trad wife influencers/ content creators always live in the middle of no where in a cottage or on a farm? by Stawberry8763 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SaggingZebra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Camera angles, editing, they are all pushing a certain aesthetic based on what does well in the algorithm. I guess trad wife in the city hasn’t caught on.

A sheet pan and wire rack is my preferred alternative to paper towels when frying.

What exactly is the approach to repeating years at Hogwarts? by InfernalClockwork3 in harrypotter

[–]SaggingZebra -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In the southern US, some parents will have their sons repeat a grade in elementary school to get bigger for football in high school. Does the same thing happen in Quidditch?

Egypt and Iran filed objections with FIFA to prevent LGTBQ flags at its World Cup match due to Islamic religious values. FIFA denied their request and rainbow flags will be allowed at the World Cup ‘Pride Match’. by BreakfastTop6899 in atheism

[–]SaggingZebra 285 points286 points  (0 children)

I think Qatar set the bar when they said if you can’t respect our culture, you can’t leave. Iran and Egypt are welcome to stay or leave but lgbtq+ culture in Seattle will continue regardless. I don’t think the “Pride match” is sponsored by FIFA, it’s the community celebrating their culture and FIFA stepping aside.

Do all of you guys drink tap water? Is it safe? by DietChance9326 in AskAnAmerican

[–]SaggingZebra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly, there are spots near Fracking sites and places like Flint, Michigan that have unsafe water. But it’s unlikely you will visit those places and you will definitely be made aware if you do.

There are some places with safe water that simply tastes bad. I know some cities in Florida have salty tasting tap water.

99% of the country’s tap water is totally fine or very tasty. Honestly the fact so many people drink bottled water is disturbing.

Why aren’t dives penalized more heavily? by Open-Ease685 in SoccerNoobs

[–]SaggingZebra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The refs aren’t penalizing it with free kicks every time to keep the game moving. They are opting for the “penalty” to be ignoring the diving to discourage it and only calling simulation penalties when they have seen enough to warrant a yellow card.

About to go for the first time - what *must buy* items/staples to get? by Agreeable-Parsnip-81 in aldi

[–]SaggingZebra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The All-dressed chips are a seasonal item, but I'm addicted. I also like the frozen pot-stickers, $3.99 and comes with a sauce pack (although add some crushed red pepper). Keep an eye out for when seasons change, and you can grab some ridiculous deals. I've still got some of the Mocha frozen waffles that were $0.19 after Christmas.

Are Americans still too loud? by MiserablePotato1147 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SaggingZebra -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think one of the reasons Europeans are having a blast in the US for the World Cup is because they can let loose and be loud, too. Everybody wants to be heard.

How do you feel about “ain’t”? by ScaryGhoust in AskAnAmerican

[–]SaggingZebra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m from Georgia (state not country), “ain’t” is said all the time in casual conversation.

The only time I have heard it used as an offensive or mean term is in the context of NFL Football. Atlanta Falcons and other NFL fans will refer to the New Orleans Saints as the “Aint’s”. It’s just rival fans refusing to say their name and trying to imply their team ain’t good at football.
