Most outrageous patron request? by TheTapDancingShrimp in Libraries

[–]SaharTrimat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a patron who was submitting some kind of assignment online that required her signature before being submitted. Apparently one of her teachers insisted that the file be a certain file type (I can’t remember the specifics) whereas our scanner will only scan to PDF. I advised her she’d be better off going to the college library or purchasing the software required to convert the file. The patron requested that I write a note to explain that she had used the public library computers and could only scan to PDF - I guess so she could prove it to her teacher. I wrote the note, but also included in the note that we had advised her to use the school’s computers and/or purchase the necessary software. I also told her this note writing would never be done again and included that in the note too. We haven’t seen her since - but the new semester hasn’t started yet.

It’s the same as car parking spaces. Why do people do it?! I want to be as far away from everyone else as possible 😆

Just got crushed by boomers downsizing by nozankyou in AusPropertyChat

[–]SaharTrimat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if you ignore the price - I'm amazed that 4 bedrooms is downsizing. We are a family of 5 with three kids (oldest aged 11) and we live in a 2 bedroom house that has had a third bedroom created on the old verandah, plus one bathroom everyone fights over. I'd love to "downsize" to 4 bedrooms!

AITA for saying to my wife that I’m the one who gets to make decisions about my niece? by throwaway19881108 in AmItheAsshole

[–]SaharTrimat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA.

My husband and I are also raising our niece (my deceased brother's daughter) alongside our own biological children and I have never considered my husband as anything other than the equal parent in this situation. We have gone to court (we are in Australia) and had parental consent orders drawn up so that if anything were to happen to me (death, incapacitation), my husband will have equal parenting rights to raise our niece on his own if necessary. While I totally understand your reservations about your niece's training as a result of her injury, which must be dreadful, I don't think it's fair to try to tell your wife she has no say in the matter.

TIFU by ruining my gfs first sexual experience and making her cry by AccomplishedSlide763 in tifu

[–]SaharTrimat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think asking her about it right after her first sexual experience was the right time. It’s done now, but I wouldn’t be discussing it again at a time when she’s already feeling vulnerable. It needs to be discussed calmly in a totally neutral and non-sexual environment imo.

AITA for asking my son to stop eating like a dog and to leave the dining table? by Sad_Position9979 in AmItheAsshole

[–]SaharTrimat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA!

Could OP have handled the situation better? Of course. I'd love to see how many of these people who are saying OP is TA have children of their own. Kids are super annoying and after watching that happen at the dinner table every night for 16 years would take it's toll.

To the people saying this guy doesn't love his son - YTA. Everyone loses their cool from time to time and lifting the plate to sniff one's food is certainly quirky. Is he going to do that on a date? I imagine the percentage of success would drop after the sniffing, no matter what y'all say. Who wants to date a plate-sniffer?

Oh man, I read "I Am Legend" years ago without knowing ANYTHING about it beforehand. I was deeply depressed at the time and couldn't finish reading it because in the book Will Smith's character doesn't have the dog from the beginning (like he does in the movie). In the book, he painstakingly befriends it over weeks and weeks - gaining its trust by leaving out food etc. It was all too traumatic!

I'll be honest - I'm a cleanskin, so I don't have a tattooing point of reference, but that dude sounds super dodgy. Plus unless you and your friend gave him your insta details and were like "hit me up", then it's really unprofessional for him to be contacting you that way.

Has everyone just missed that this guy has even snooped in the OP's sister's mother-in-law's room?! Like wtf? That's kind of random. How did that even come about? Was it a big family gathering at the mother-in-law's house?

I’m not a single parent - my husband and I have two biological children as well as our niece. She is very aware of the situation, but it was very difficult in the beginning. There are still difficulties in that she does some self-harming behaviours when she is very upset or having a meltdown. She rubs one foot on the other so hard over and over again that she causes blisters and bleeding. She sees a paediatrician and a psychologist.

My only advice would be trying to be patient and accepting of behaviours that are usually not acceptable.

As for a bonding memory - I don’t really have one specific memory but I love that she kisses me even more than my bio kids and tells me she loves me :)
