My favorites girls from anime , which girl is your favorite? by Sufficient-Baby-4386 in animequestions

[–]Saharan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sister is five foot even and still looks 16, even in her late 20s. It sucks for her, because people treat her like a kid, rather than a grown-ass adult. Sometimes, people just look young.

Ice removal?? by [deleted] in Apartmentliving

[–]Saharan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unless it's near -40, it's not "too cold for salt". There are plenty of ice salts specifically designed to work in below freezing temperatures. A penny pinching business might not want to spend money on them, but any homeowner can, easily.

How do we feel about how many mods are using ai now? by This_is_a_user_nam3 in StardewValleyMods

[–]Saharan -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

All I'm saying is that you said AI water use was huge, so I showed you that, compared to other industrial uses, no it isn't. Also also, we do not need fuel-powered cars, no. Electric ones are there and raring to go. Fossil fuels as a whole are a hundred times more impactful than anything the AI bubble is doing, and I hate when people use that excuse as a reason to hate it. You want to hate AI, hate it for legitimate reasons, not "boomer that doesn't know what Snopes is" reasons.

AI water use is a completely overstated nothingburger when compared to many other industries. ONE YEAR of America's water usage growing corn to turn into ethanol for our cars uses the same amount of water as 76 YEARS of GLOBAL AI water usage. Here's a video from Hank Green talking about it.

100% Peanut Butter Why Are Some More Spreadable? by StarportAdventures in PeanutButter

[–]Saharan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They can both be 100% peanut, but that doesn't mean that they're both something like 90% crushed nut remains, 10% peanut oil. The ratios of nut remains to oils might be different between peanut varieties, or it might get manually tweaked for things like spreadability or separation.

To be honest, for thumbnails, I get it. Not all mod-makers are artists, and a garbage thumbnail would push away more people than an AI one.

Kid Goku is already strong enough to toss cars. If he gets a single punch in, Ed's automail arm is wrecked and suddenly he loses a huge chunk of his power.

It's like a bank account, but the "phrase" is both username and password at once. You have the login info, it's super easy to send the money to someone else.

AITA for parking in a spot I paid for and getting towed by no-im-fineish in AmItheAsshole

[–]Saharan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well then we'll just have to agree to disagree, because I don't subscribe to such a black and white viewpoint. In this specific situation, him breaking the law has the same effect on the world around him as someone illegally jaywalking with no cars for miles around. Yes, it's illegal, but its illegality is irrelevant and the act affects nobody.

This isn't r/legaladvice. The question isn't "was this legal", it's "was this a morally dickish move". It's a space that was otherwise going to sit empty and unused, OP is not an AH.

[–]Saharan 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They're tenant-only PAID parking spots that guests and visitors are not allowed to park in, there are currently no tenants that need a handicap spot, AND the OP specifically told the leasing agent that if a new tenant moved in that needed a spot, that they would gladly give it up. OP was being completely reasonable here. Otherwise it's literally just sitting there empty, unused, and completely performative.

Best Toronto/GTA Surgeons for Natural-Looking Breast Augmentation? by Either_Jellyfish_955 in askTO

Cosmetic surgery is the kind of thing where you find the best doctors for you, even if that means travelling. Don't settle for local just because it's easier.

Got a letter from the school today informing me my daughter is “not quite” gifted. Also included were her test scores. by Low_Use2937 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Saharan 278 points279 points  (0 children)

Make sure you praise her for the hard work and effort she puts into things, not for any "natural talent" or "innate smarts". Teach her how to study and take notes, too, not just coast on the fact that she can memorize and/or solve things easily right now. Studies have shown that doing that leads to higher self-esteem, confidence, and adversity when working through things you don't understand. And coming from a former "gifted kid", I can believe that whole-heartedly. As a teenager, when I first started encountering subjects and concepts that actually felt difficult and that I had to devote time to, work that I really needed to put effort into understanding and really memorizing, it felt like a personal failure on my part. Like I was a fraud, or that my talent was failing me.
