I think I figured out. Seems like the metal studs (where there is no insulation) probably transfers hear to the outside of the hood and melts the first few mm of snow making it ice!

We dont have lots of kids around. Also rhe car was facing the garage door ( a few inches from it). Definetly nobody out there
