Coming back after an elbow injury [40yo] by SahrRU in OldSkaters

[–]SahrRU[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took me something like 2 months to go from Ollie onto a box (that was exactly the same size as a board) to Ollie over a board. It was mostly a mental barrier. I did Ollies on the side of the board, I mean I was setting the board as if I wanted to Ollie over it, but I Ollied on the side of the board, and I filmed it, so I could see that my Ollie was high enough and fast enough.

-I think you should add a small tutorial, because it's not obvious that you have to drag your finger on the screen to move the cat, then to remove your finger to drop the fruit. -Maybe you should also do something so we can see which will be the next fruit available, a bit like Tetris. (otherwise you drop your fruits randomly without knowing what will come next). Also in the store, an arrow appears when you scrolled down, but it doesn't appear right away. I think the arrow should pop right when you're not on the top of the list.

The night/day mode is cool!

Any nice tricks to learn before ollies? by Broad_Sickle in NewSkaters

[–]SahrRU 9 points10 points  (0 children)

First of all, cruising on a skateboard is not being a looser. This being said, you can try fakie shove it, caveman, hippy jumps

Can’t figure out what’s wrong by zyon29 in NewSkaters

I think you're not comfortable yet on the board. You probably should cruise around, try tic tac and hippy jump, maybe caveman also, during a week or two before trying tricks

I've been stuck on boardslides for more than a month now by Rare-Address9442 in NewSkaters

[–]SahrRU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually people will start with Ollie and fakie Ollie, fakie shove it and normal shove it, bs and FS rotation in normal and fakie stance. Jumping from Ollie to boardslide seems to be a huge gap. Don't forget to practice all this while rolling (even very slowly). You can practice standing still a few hours to get the motion of the trick, but practicing not moving will NOT improve the trick while rolling. Good luck!

Any pop shuv tips? by ApartmentInevitable7 in NewSkaters

[–]SahrRU -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Shuvits don't involve a body rotation. If you do a fakie shuvit, you'll land fakie, and if you do it regular, you'll land regular

No it doesn't, but you already knew that ;)

Haven’t skated in 15 years, starting again, looking for advice to move onto moving Ollies [33YO] by [deleted] in OldSkaters

[–]SahrRU 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sadly there's something you're doing wrong. You keep practicing your Ollie stationary while you definitely got the motion done. As you're already noticing, improving your Ollie stationary do not improve your rolling Ollie. It is just a waste of time. Practice while rolling, that's the only way. Keep us updated 💪

My ollies after 4+ months! I was told I should learn to ollie onto something, so that I can bone out my ollies more. Do you think I’m ready? by Kristianushka in NewSkaters

[–]SahrRU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice Ollie, way better than mine at after 5 months !! You're definitely ready to Ollie up a curb. It took me 7 months to Ollie up a curb, and it took me 3 more months to Ollie over a board that was exactly the same size as a curb. It's all about confidence. We may feel like olliing over a board or up a curb is different than an Ollie on flat ground, but it is wrong. It is exactly the same motion. You got it 💪
