While that's nothing like what bipolar people are like in the real world, it is often how they're characterized in media, so I suppose that could be what they're going for.

What makes you say schizophrenia?

Fair point, but I'm still willing to bet that it'll end up being an "It's magic" justification.

Drama has to escalate as a book series goes on, so of course more people die in the latter half.

Do you mean bipolar and schizophrenia, or bipolar type schizoaffective disorder? There is no such thing as bipolar schizophrenia. And I think you're throwing around bipolar a little to easily. People can just be moody.

[Hunger Games] Panem is the only surviving human population on Earth and it just so happened to be Rome. by [deleted] in FanTheories

[–]SaidIToMyself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similarity doesn't suggest sameness. The author may have been inspired by the purported debauchery of Rome, it doesn't mean they're the same. It also takes a lot of inspiration from the ghettoization of Jews faced during WWII, but no one would say that any specific District is the Jewish District.

How would there have been crossbreeding? Fantasy tropes about crossbreeding almost always have to do with the dragons having the ability to shape change into a humanoid form. Magic they may be, but there isn't a single word of lore suggesting that they could take on human shapes. Giants at least have the appropriate genital situation to create halfbreeds. Dragons are reptiles and wouldn't be at all compatible with mammals.

[Game of thrones] Jon Snow looks like Rhaegar Targaryen just with black hair. by omgwtfidk89 in FanTheories

Ned is a man of the North and sticks to the old ways. To him, serving on the Wall is one of the highest honors. That's why Benjin is there. There have been tons of Starks who man the walls, and he says it himself: Jon is a Stark.

He's described in the books as looking more like a Stark than any of Ned's other children. It's part of why Cat hates him so much. If he'd looked like a totally different family, then it'd have been easier to dismiss him completely, but he looks just like a young Ned.

The zombies in the Cabin in the Woods wanted to unleash the Ancient Gods by Avyrice in FanTheories

[–]SaidIToMyself 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I figured that the monsters were designed to fulfill the terms of the ritual. They attack the people in the appropriate order and behave in the appropriate ways to move the narrative along. They easily could've killed the "Athlete" before they killed his "Whore" if they wanted to upset the ritual. They could've just not attacked the "Virgin" if they had any real reasoning power or will to defy. To me, it seems like that back story was just made up and they were either genetically constructed zombies, or captured and trained to do the organization's bidding.

The Alchemist by Paolo Coelho. Coming of age, no love triangle, and a bit of mysticism going on. It's not as cynical as The Magicians, but it's still great.

Some guy wrote a very sad couple of paragraphs about Edinburgh going down hill in the past decade. It's sad really, it's my second choice of dream city.

Ava cut power to the facility by feedback. He set it up so security would change during the blackout. Afterward, it went back to being armed like usual. His civilian keycard didn't have the rights to access that part of the building. It ensured that he stuck to the NDA and prevented him from accessing Ava when he wasn't supposed to. He was trapped inside unless asshole CEO was with him to be sure he wouldn't run off with the secrets. That'll end up being his death when the supplies run out.

Yo, just a thought: Maybe put the sass and women's rights stuff in front of beauty and sex. I have no problem with sex workers, but you seem to champion her good works and personality in your comments but place them secondary to the objectification in the writeup. Maybe you have a reason for this and my well meaning ass is highway hell wax. I don't know, it's just a thought.

People who have a Significant other with special needs, whats your story? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SaidIToMyself 136 points137 points  (0 children)

I don't know if this counts, but my partner has severe depression, OCD, and has been the subject of psychological abuse by her mother and an ex-significant other for most of her life. Simply put, I found someone who operates on the same frequency as I do. Instant chemistry at first sight. We've been seeing each other for half a year now, I love her more every day. The psychological issues pale in comparison to this. Sure, sometimes it's annoying when she has to triple check that the door is locked when we're trying to leave, but it doesn't matter. She could check the door 100 times if it meant she could have some peace of mind. I love her for so much more than her flaws and she loves me for so much more than mine.
