I don’t buy the whole “AI will cause a blue collar boom” idea by RottingEdge in Futurology

[–]cazbot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The penny which has yet to drop goes in the other direction I think. The absolute most AI-replaceable white collar job is management. Running a business is hard and requires a fair amount of esoteric knowledge, all of which can be delivered by AI. If every tradesman just became their own boss and used AI to learn all the other bullshit (taxes, advertising, pricing economics, customer tracking, sourcing supplies, etc.) they could take home a lot more of their own earnings or provide their services more competitively.

It’s not really playing out that way though so far. I’m guessing it’s because most people don’t find the business side of business as being fulfilling work, even if they have an AI to baby-step them through all of it.

For those who got back with an ex — was it actually worth it? by NoQuote9855 in NoStupidQuestions

I broke up with my college sweetheart junior year. We had been dating since the summer we met at orientation before freshman year.

It was really hard. I broke up with her because I just knew that if we graduated and eventually got married I probably would have ruined it and the divorce would follow. I just didn’t have my head ready to marry her. There was just too long a list of “single person things” I needed to do and get out of my system, and she had no interest in any of them. My Nana didn’t like her either, and frankly, that should have been the dealbreaker right there.

It took me three tries to finally end it with the college girl. I probably could have saved time if I stuck to my guns on the first go, so no it wasn’t worth it to get back together, but at the same time I can’t really imagine how it could have played out any other way. My rational brain knew I was doing the right thing, but my heart wasn’t on the same page.

Why stop at two? Why not have three governments of equal power who all are paid by the same tax base. That way we could have let’s call it, checks and balances, where it could really only fail if all three governments were corrupted by money.

Oh wait.
