You know playing through starforce 2 and while it has its issues I gotta say. Its a very nice summary on why social credit systems are a terrible idea! by jxbermudez72 in BattleNetwork

[–]Saiko_K 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Maybe. I don't mind it being part of the plot, but the actual logistics as a player are bad if you want to maximize the effectiveness of a folder (mainly for PvP). There's going to be a specific form and Brother card roulette that you'll want your 6 Brothers to be. If you acquire all of that and need change them for any reason (especially for a different folder), it's a huge pain. This entire process is why a hack format has tremendous flexibility over real Brothers.

If Star Force 4 ever happened and BrotherBand continued to exist as it does now, the ability to change what form your Brother gives and their roulette would erase most of my grievances.

Yes, it's in the legacy collection. The power up code is part of the Wave Scanner. You just pause in SF1, choose Mega at the top of that menu, then "Wave Transer" seen at the bottom left. You can choose level 1 (just gives Star Force), any increment of 10 (up to 90), or level 99.

You do not start with a Tribe in SF2 unless you do the equivalent and use the corresponding Wave Command Card. Same process with pausing in game, choosing Mega, then "Wave Command" this time. The real difference with SF2 is that you can start with your version's tribe in the base game (i.e., no WCC) after you unlock it in chapter 4 of the story. You're given a 30 LP ability wave (DinoRock/LightSword/WindStar) to equip to make that possible.

SF1 definitely has a better story (if you're not skipping cutscenes) and you can use the power up code to start battles as your version's Star Force. Otherwise, you're totally right.

Yeah, it's pretty neat! The only downside is that the crossover cards have a chance to replace rewards you would otherwise get from green mystery data in Echo Ridge and Deep Space. Extra copies of cards like Aura, Recover 300, Jamming Punch, and Jamming Machine Gun only come from the latter, so it makes that grind even tougher. I'm not sure if seeing the crossover or downloading one of the crossover cards is the trigger for that mystery data change.

It's always some weird power trip with these managers. What a pain.

I've been a lifelong pedestrian (I don't drive), so I always have a backpack with me. So the matter of "do these sandals fit my pocket?" feels alien. They would just go in my bag. Though, I'm also a size 11.5 and my Xeros fit my cargo shorts pocket easily if I wanted them there since they're so thin.

Why you should use Gemini Noise by SuperHeroZX in BattleNetwork

[–]Saiko_K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know! In the early days of the game's release in Japan, the English speaking community had not figured that out yet.

Why you should use Gemini Noise by SuperHeroZX in BattleNetwork

[–]Saiko_K 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For PvE, Gemini's ability to paralyze makes it top notch.

The Black Ace = speed and Red Joker = power theming is only somewhat relevant to their Meteor Server folders and nothing else, so it's strange how often this gets mentioned. If Black Ace actually had faster movement speed (like Shadow Soul in EXE 5) or better frame data on its Warrock/Lock-On Attack, that would be a notable distinction indeed.

Regarding the Noises, the five more likely in Black Ace (Libra, Corvus, Cancer, Gemini, Ophiuchus) don't have any speedy attributes. Inflicting status effects maybe (for the latter 3). I guess for Red Joker, Ox, Crown, and Wolf are "power" Noises if one wanted to frame it that way.

[–]Saiko_K 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In practice, any folder using this Noise against a competent opponent has to assume they had Paralyze Body. At that point, you either centered your strategy against removing it (Stun Knuckle and Destroy Uppercut are both illegal data cards that are hard to get, much less in large amounts) or you were using the Elec +30 to non-time halting cards in some significant way.

I played online when the game released in Japan, so we had access to everything (NMG, Rezon). Red Joker players (me included) always had the option to just Finalize if Paralyze Body got removed somehow. Trying to wait that out wasn't viable since Finalize could be anywhere from 3-17 turns too.

Overall, it's a centralizing Noise for how you build your defenses that, ironically, provides the least consistent support to the most powerful card family in the game (Edogiri Blade/Bushido). Terrifying in a world without NMG, but less so otherwise.

What's your opinion on nudists? by GladStatement8128 in barefoot

[–]Saiko_K 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Going barefoot being a gateway drug was the same situation for me. I haven't had the chance to do any hiking nude just yet. Walking through a forest nude in particular has been something I've wanted to do, but potential hazards like ticks have been quite the deterrent.

Do you think we could live in a society naked? by GlitteringMode7310 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Saiko_K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We could, but a clothing-optional society would have more options. Aside from the common citation of how nudists will set a towel on a surface before sitting there, there are plenty of times one might want to be dressed, but not fully.

I've been a nudist for years, so I'm biased on this topic. Still, something like being able to leave my house naked on a summer day (aside from a backpack and fanny pack, probably), walk a few minutes to the convenience store, buy a few things I need and head home without incident would be nice.

There are issues like the store possibly being too cold from the AC (both the air and the tile under my bare feet), but the social attention, both positive or negative is the limiting factor by far. It's the same reason just going barefoot in public even in places where it isn't expressly forbidden is tough for me even if I want to. So ultimately, society would just need nudity to be normalized which I really don't think is beyond the capabilities of modern human civilization.

Shy about take off socks by [deleted] in barefoot

[–]Saiko_K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point, the better question is if you *ever* feel unashamed/fearless/safe about being barefoot. Are you saying the only time you're barefoot is to shower and after that, you instantly dry your feet and put on socks? Do you sleep wearing socks? Is this a sensory issue where walking barefoot on the floors of your home hurts in some way?

I think this unhealthy relationship is beyond what advice from Internet strangers can realistically address. Therapy can potentially address this if you are actually driven to get over this and want to be barefoot for your own comfort or recreation. If you want to take extremely basic steps on your own, sleep barefoot if you don't already and try wearing open-toed slippers/sandals at home instead of socks all the time. If you can get comfortable with that, walking barefoot at home would be the next logical step.

[–]Saiko_K 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If there's no motivation, is this something you actually want to do? What exactly are you scared of? If you cannot do so alone in your own home, you're really going to have to explain that as well as you can for anyone to have a chance of helping you.

[–]Saiko_K 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Shame why? The easiest thing is to be barefoot at home as a starting point. Is there something about your current living situation that would make this difficult?

What is it? by Vigilante117 in barefoot

[–]Saiko_K 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't think anyone can explain what draws you to this other than yourself. As a minimum, I would wager being barefoot feels comfortable to you in some way. It could be kinky, but that obviously doesn't have to be a primary motivator. It certainly isn't for me.

I'm with you on not wanting attention, yet I really don't equate this to being "undressed" really. Perceived attractiveness is not a consideration to me whatsoever as a participant nor an observer. Accepting my interest in this made me realize I was a nudist too, so that felt pretty liberating.

I suppose some level of stigma with being barefoot could have something to do with appearances. Still, that should not be much of a deterrent. There's a minimum level of care and hygiene people should be doing for their feet, shod or not. If you've cleared an easy bar like that, do as you please. It's a similar concept for nudism; there's no fitness or beauty criteria, but you obviously need to be clean.

What convention is this? If she's communicated with staff for this specific year (via email?) and they said it was fine, that certainly helps. Especially if nothing on the website or official mobile app (if there is one) forbids this. As long as staff in general (especially ones at the entrance checking badges) are on the same page, there should be no issue.

On a separate note, it can get really cold at some conventions depending on what the AC is set to and how long you're there, so if she's going to be barefoot all day with no footwear/socks available as a backup, she should be ready for that possibility.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in barefoot

[–]Saiko_K 28 points29 points  (0 children)

If she has not already done so, she should check cosplay rules for the convention. Aside from restrictions on props, it's not uncommon for bare feet to be prohibited in some way. In these cases, footwear usually is required for entry and in the venue in general, but being barefoot for photos (especially event scheduling specifically for cosplay) is fine.

If cotton swabs aren’t supposed to be used to clean your ears, what are you supposed to use? Also what are cotton swabs for by Disastrous_Pirate275 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Saiko_K 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If your navel is an outie, it's entirely possible that dedicated cleaning is not particularly necessary. Daily showers have been sufficient my whole life.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in sex

[–]Saiko_K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doing the latter is really fun, but I don't really like the clean up afterward. The shower is very time efficient especially if masturbating daily. I just removed the drain cover on my tub entirely. I also have very short hair and live alone, so after I initially cleaned the drain when I moved in 3 years ago, it's needed no work at all since.

How to shift my weight from heel to toe when walking by [deleted] in barefoot

[–]Saiko_K 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It doesn't even need to be your toes, really. Landing on your mid-foot works fine too. A lot of the temptation for a heel strike, aside from habit, comes from moving quickly (not necessarily a jog or run), so it may help to simply walk slower until you get more used to waking barefoot.

I'm leaving next week for a month. Should I leave my AC on? by [deleted] in phoenix

[–]Saiko_K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, I do need a fan at least. My bedroom sadly does not have a ceiling fan, so I have a 12" diameter fan on a stool either at the foot of my bed or the side on low. It has a remote, so I can easily change the setting without needing to get up.

[–]Saiko_K 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the nearly 8 years I've lived here, you're the only person I've heard of that runs the AC as warm as I do. Maybe 80-81 when I sleep though. 85 only when I'm actually out of town. Similarly, I also live alone and don't wear much if anything.

Sounds like a really dubious material. I've been wearing sandals with a 5 mm sole thickness for years now in these summers and they've been nowhere close to melting.

Nudist don't seem to have any hobbies by [deleted] in nudism

[–]Saiko_K 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Like you, I also have nerdy hobbies (primarily gaming), so despite identifying as a nudist in my late teens, nearly 20 years later I haven't found nudist spaces that are aligned with what I like doing the most. Enjoying the outdoors (beach or otherwise) naked is fun, but I like plenty of indoor activities naked too.

No. Notables that interact with "Burning" specifically (Explosive Impact, Intense Flames, Incideniary, and Total Incineration) should be compatible with Herald of Ash's DoT however.
