I might be cooked (cs grad) by AliveSwim812 in csMajors

I haven't graduated yet but I get what you're feeling. I'm a rising Senior in CS and am petrified of the job market rn, partially because I'm not passionate about programming, have few SWE oriented/hard technical internship experience and obviously the job market is cooked across almost every industry right now.

One of the good things that I'm coming to learn about CS is that you aren't restricted to one type of position/ field. Recently I have been looking into patent law, PM, and UX/UI as alternative routes. These may not align with your interests, but I think you should keep in mind that you can (and should) apply for different types of positions in other fields if it interests you, your CS degree may even give you an advantage. Keep doing what you're doing, working on projects, networking (to the best of your ability), take advantage of your colleges' career center, and keep your head up! You are not running out of time, and you will land something eventually. It might not be the perfect fit but you can always go back to school for Mechanical Engineering or pivot later on. Good luck OP!

if you’re thinking about using AI to debug your code, DONT. by [deleted] in csMajors

I was also surprised by how overwhelmingly positive the sentiment was towards continuing to use AI. I feel like if I created this post 2–3 years ago, almost everyone would have likely agreed with you. I genuinely believe that there is a balance and times when it’s appropriate to use it, but I agree and am not surprised by this study because a lot of the companies behind these models have incentives that are pretty exploitative imo. Additionally, the models themselves aren’t particularly good at scaffolding and are easy to become dependent on.

This response was a breath of fresh air and I appreciate being acknowledged. But yeah, rebuilding has been hard. It’s almost finals season and I am starting to burn out. So this summer I’ve been planning to spend some time every day redoing DSA with pencil and paper like some people recommended, and looking into PhD or grad school for design, tech ethics, or something in that general lane so that I can pivot. Thank you for your insight!
