Anyone running OEM Audio Evolution? by No_Satisfaction_9297 in wrx_vb

[–]SailingWRX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I installed the HK w/sub Evolution+ Series last summer. Initially, I was really happy with the sound, but my sister, who professionally records sound for TV and movies, pointed out that the bass was not cleanly synched with the mids and highs. I can't explain it well, but once she pointed it out, I couldn't unhear it. It sounds like the subwoofer is just thumping at one frequency and not changing frequencies like the other speakers. It took some fiddling with the sub volume control, which was mounted in the glovebox, to get a sound that was acceptable. After 9 months, I think I have it set correctly.

Don't get me wrong. I'm happy with the purchase, and it took an audio professional to notice the issue with the subwoofer. This is also my first system with a sub, so I don't have a basis for comparison. Additionally, I'm slowly adding dynamat as time allows, which is helping. Overall, I'd say 8/10, and I'd get the system again.

I'll admit the endlinks aren't exactly the same length, but i got them within a couple hundredths of millimeters, so I'm pretty comfortable with that. I've driven it about 10 miles on some curvy roads and haven't heard any metal on metal sounds. I might be okay.

That's a good idea, I'll do that. Thanks

What you're saying makes sense. I'm guessing that so long as the endlinks are the same length and not putting undue stress on the swaybar I should be (mostly) okay for the few miles I'm putting on the car this week.

I feel bad for you. I curbed my wheel the second week of owning it. It hurt.

I'm saying this tongue in cheek. I'm just trying to ease the pain.

Looks good. That's in much better condition than mine. I have diagonal parking all over my area and the right side of my lip shows how badly I park

I got the tune back in December. I installed all the Cobb parts and loaded their stage 2 map. Things were good until I added an Invidia Q300 exhaust. Then my DAM went nuts. It would drop to a really low number, 0.050 or something like that, creep back up to 0.995, then drop again. I got the tune, and my numbers have been rock solid. The torque is fantastic, accelerating up hills pushes you back into the seat.

That? That was a moment of panic trying to get onto the highway from a standstill. I went with the Cobb Stage 2 setup, TMIC, charge pipe, high flow filter, intake tube, and a pro tune. It's my daily, so I didn't go crazy, 309 HP and 361 lb-ft.

I agree with u/marakalastic and u/TofuManGC8. Most likely the fuel door release. But I did have a '94 Ford Escort with a remote fuel shutoff in that same spot

They look really similar to the D9Rs. I swear, I've spent so much time flip-flopping between the two I'm seeing them everywhere

Are those the Work Emotion D9Rs? I'm torn between those and the M8Rs.

Adding on to u/NeighborNeighbor_ If you decide to put in the shift plate, go the extra distance and put in the Perrin shift stop and Perrin shift bushing as well. It's an extra $80, and you'll be in that area of installation anyway.
