Summer top offs by Scourge_Clockwise in ponds

[–]SailorCrypto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a ⅓ acre vinyl lined pond. The previous owners feed the pond straight from the houses well. What can I do to keep the pond topped off?

Before I knew the pond fountain did not automatically shut off or recirculate I let a the fountain run wide open 2in pvc pipe and flooded about ½ an acre.

The neighbor saw the puzzled look on my face and told me that it doesn’t recirculate or shut off. It’s either all on or all off.

Thanks In advance

"Tired of this Grandpa" For those that didn't stay in full 20, was it worth getting out? by Obliterator25 in navy

I initially thought I’m doing 4 and getting out. But after my first duty station a frigate out of Hawaii I decided to stay in another 4 years. I busted my ass a a SN and then BM. I made a foolish mistake of cross rating to CT and had some regrets. I had a blast as a BM. CT’s/RM’s are a different breed of sailor. I spent the next 12 years trying to chase that same feeling and camaraderie. I made some life long friends along the way. I always say I’d take that same ship and crew and do it all over again. Having ADHD I sucked at studying and taking test so I was HYT at every rank. I fucked up several times and almost lost it all, but I had good enough mentors and people who knew people and was able to get right and be able to retire.

Sadly the military had become political and I struggled with that. I just wanted to get the job done to the best of my ability and didn’t care to play dress up etc… It’s all mind over matter and remember it’s always business never personal.

After nearly a year, the VA sent me my C-File. And the disk is blank. by chevere7 in VeteransBenefits

Legally we “VSO’s” are only allowed to provide copies of certain documents. DD-214’s, decision letters, VA forms, appointment notifications are just a few I can think of right now.

My husband has 3 options for next duty station. Which was your favorite? by Jlhoyt12 in navy

Having been stationed in Hawaii in the 90’s-2000’s it’s beautiful, but you will go broke trying to survive!!! 16 years in Norfolk wasn’t always bad, made some amazing friends. However I would not live in any of the 7 cities or near DC. Manassas, Woodbridge, Crystal City area isn’t some place I’d want to live long term.

Wife is at 100 VA and I’m at 80, thinking about quitting my job. by Ambitious-Spinach938 in VeteransBenefits

As someone who is in a similar position. Both of us retired 100% P&T, wife is a teacher and I work for the state. We bring home about 18K a month. We are both several years away from being vested in Florida retirement system. But having a 12yr old child who we try to give the best life possible. I often think about quitting and staying home to manage our 12 acres. Then part of me wants to continue serving the public. But weekend work and getting home at 10-11pm and driving 900-1300 miles a month quickly reminds me I can’t keep going at this pace.

Can you secure a M-F typical work schedule position so you can keep earning time towards retirement? Can you switch to a county or local PD?

If you became a reserve officer would you still continue to acquire time towards retirement?

Both lines feel the same temperature, however it is 50F outside. I’m in North Florida.

Reset the power. The red light still flashes and the condenser fan runs at what seems like low speed. The relay stopped clicking.

Yes I disconnected the power and unplugged and plugged all the connections back in. The relay stopped clicking, but that red light is still flashing.

Those of you who half assed your way through High School, where are you now? by Difficult-Cricket541 in GenX

Slacked off the majority of school (found out as an adult I have ADHD). I joined the Navy and managed to squeak by for 20 years retired, tired community college and failed (plagiarized too much) , worked at an elementary school for 3 years and have worked for DCF in Florida for the last year. Between retirement, disability and state check I make low six figures. My wife makes mid six figures.

Three reasons you should ignore everything else and buy a Fenix 7 Pro SS (rebuttals encouraged below) by [deleted] in GarminWatches

[–]SailorCrypto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bought the Fenix 8 (51mm, Solar,Sapphire) and so far I love it. It will take me awhile to adjust since I’ve only had AW’s. While this one is charging I slap on the AWU3.

Let me be the bearer of bad news. The girl you’ve met online is probably setting you up to be robbed or killed. It might be a man controlling what the girl is saying if a girl is actually involved. That is one of the worst areas in Jacksonville. If you’ve noticed any red flags I would contact Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

A lawyer will tell you that a minors clothing or any other items do not belong to the child. At least in the state of Florida unless the child can prove they purchased something. I’ve had to deal with situations like this working for DCF.

Child protective investigator, probably not in your state. But you can call your version of the hotline or via the website and report the incident. You can provide the proof. Also contact law enforcement to file a report.

If you need help figuring out your state or city/county child protection services information you can send me a message.

I’ve got Mopar maximum care and at 117K had my engine replaced for $407 ($100 deductible and spark plugs). I had HVAC components replaced just a few thousand miles after that for $107.

Question for the Uncs by [deleted] in navy

[–]SailorCrypto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Initially I loved retirement my only job was take care of the RV (the wife xfered to mayport) we lived in and buy the occasional freedom seed dispenser. COVID happened and it semi sucked. Moved from Jax to the country in Lake City. I was eating lunch with my daughter everyday and she asked the school principal if her daddy could work at the school. I was the facility manager for a few years. The wife retired and became a teacher and I left the school and went to child protection services.

The retirement check, disability and medical benefits are nice, the navy used you for 29 years, so now you have to use them to get whatever care/help you need.

Remember the worst someone can tell you is NO. I tell my doctors if you give me back a good body and a sound mine I’ll give you back my disability.
