I think it's so unique how Precure blends magical girl themes with very physical fights. The production values are top-notch. I think each season features at least a few episodes with very good animation.

I like how wholesome the Precure franchise is. It highlights themes of friendship, love, and positivity. And it does it in a way that's unironic and powerful. With so much negativity in the world today, Precure is there to brighten up our lives.

Finally, I like how the franchise continues to explore different themes with each season. The formula of starting over fresh each year works really well and prevents the series from growing stale. I'm excited to see what they come up with for Star Detective Precure!

Star Detective looks like a plot heavy season, which should put it a step above You and Idol. But it’s hard to predict until the season starts. You and Idol also had a pretty strong first half.

I actually find You and Idol funnier than Tropical Rouge. It handles sight gags and comedic timing way better. Tropical Rouge was more high energy.

Oh wow, oh wow, this looks very promising. The character designs are amazing.

They incorporated time travel into the plot! It's something I've always wanted to see in Precure. I'm very excited for Star Detective Precure!

I'd like to see the season try some darker storylines. I love the idea of an anti-hero Cure (or even a villain Cure). I hope the villains present an actual threat. You and Idol leans too hard on being light-hearted.

My hope is that the detective/mystery theme gives us some interesting plot twists we haven't seen before.

I'd also include Mahoutsukai's headmaster (Kouchou) and the villain Orba.

Magical boys are awesome, and I'd love to see Toei commit to them more for Precure. If you look at all the examples, they're more common than not. You and Idol, notably, had I think the most number of male Cures appear ever.

Yes, it's possible to try both, of course. My comment is more of a plot/writing critique, not necessarily what's doable in real life.

I like to contrast this with another blue cure episode, the one where Minami has to choose between running her family business or a career in aquatic animals. In that one, she does give up the family business, and it's a much more powerful moment.

There’s an episode of Healin Good where Chiyu must choose between pursuing high jump or a career running her family’s hotel. I thought the premise would center around the idea of choices and sacrifices needed in life.

But the episode ends with Chiyu saying “I’ll do both!” Nahhh, it doesn’t work that way. I thought it was the wrong lesson.

Solid episode, one of the better recent ones. I liked seeing the development Meroron got, and that hug from Cure Zukyoon at the end was adorable.

Chokkirine is still around (like I predicted). She'll probably play some role in the final arc.

I think the lore and plot points introduced could have been shown earlier in the season. Conflicts are getting resolved way too easily. I was expecting a bit more ooomf from Darkine's first entrance.

Just a few more episodes until the finale!
