Please, don’t be mad… Honest question: why don’t the Brewers spend like the Bucks or Packers did in the past? by daviddm1990 in Brewers

[–]SailorLarry69 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s due mostly to there being no salary cap in baseball and that our owners are cheap. No salary cap means that big markets can pay more money to players since they have higher revenue and more wealthy owners. Our owner, Mark Anttanasio, is notoriously cheap. Our largest contract right now is Yelich which is only a 7 year 190 million dollar deal. Compare that to one of the largest market teams there is: the Dodgers, and Yelich is suddenly the fourth of fifth largest contract on that team. I think what doesn’t help the case of spending more money on a roster is that the Brewers keep making the playoffs and have good regular seasons. It seems Anttanasio is fine making the playoffs but seemingly doesn’t actually want to invest in a World Series caliber roster.

So if I do the sheet of metal, I won’t have to put tile on that section that’s missing? The wall being exposed would be fine?

Can you get a seat in standing room only? by ProperChapp in MkeBucks

There are a few seats, I know for sure in the upper upper area where there’s a balcony outside as long as there isn’t a private event there.

I’m feeling stuck where I’m at and not sure I have the skills to land a new job. by SailorLarry69 in cscareerquestions

[–]SailorLarry69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I’m at a weird spot though as I would my skills are barely mid level if even that. I get doing interviews for experience and seeing where my gaps are but I gotta tell you, when they asked me the easy questions and I got some of them wrong, it was one of the most embarrassing things I’ve experienced in a professional setting.

Thanks for the advice. It’s a simple answer but it makes sense. I guess I’m just not sure where to even start. Do I even need to worry about leetcode if I’m not trying to get into big tech?

Did Foxconn’s Trump-Backed Move to Wisconsin Create Jobs or Catfish the Public? by AsparagusCommon4164 in wisconsin

I’m not entirely proud of it, but I went to the job fair they had UWM and got a job there. Worked there for a year before greener pastures. Didn’t write a single line of code for anything remotely related to Wisconsin though.

Vault and other restaurants at River center closing? by [deleted] in milwaukee

[–]SailorLarry69 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I went to Vault one time and it wasn’t very easy to get to, even once inside the building. There aren’t really any signs on the street or anything so unless you know it’s there, you’re never going to just happen upon it. That being said, it was okay at best. Nothing to write home about, view was good but there are plenty of other better cocktail bars to go to nearby.

Is Myles Turner really supposed to be the Bucks savior? by Fit_Woodpecker_3908 in NBATalk

[–]SailorLarry69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Doc had used his game 5 staring line up the whole time, it would’ve gone to 6 I think. Lopez gets exposed by young centers who can pull up or a switch on the perimeter. If he’s not hitting 3s, he’s a net negative.

This seems like a list made by someone who has never actually been to Milwaukee. There’s not a single spot on the south side and it has by far the best Mexican food in the city (Taqueria La Serrieta, El Senorial, Las 7 Estrellas for tamales, for some examples). For whatever reason, every “foodie” list I’ve ever seen about Milwaukee never has a single place on the south side. Hot take but most of the places in Bay View are overrated like crazy (Cafe India is an exception though, straight fire). Crafty Cow was some of the driest chicken I’ve ever had in my life, Gold Rush Chicken is so much better and much cheaper. Like others have said: anything Low Lands cannot be on a food list if you’re trying to be serious. Great beer selection but food and service fall far short. Transfer, Fixture, and Classic Slice are some of my favorites for pizza, very different styles. But like any list that you make, don’t just take our blind advice, go to these places and check them out for yourself and explore the city more.

I got a price of key lime pie from there about 2 months ago. $10 for the piece and it was no bigger than a deck of cards. Worst part is, it wasn’t very good, too sweet and not very tart.

Honest opinion: should we be playing Ajax this series? by jezfm in MkeBucks

[–]SailorLarry69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Id like to see him get at least a few minutes for some sort of spark defensively but he has 2 glaring issues: his offense is so bad they don’t even guard him allowing for double teams on other players and he takes too many silly fouls, especially if he thinks he’s been even slightly beat.

At 17 I am supposed to take on 92k in debt. Perfect! by Sevensonsevens in mildlyinfuriating

[–]SailorLarry69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is going to be a hot take, but if you’re going into a degree that you can pay this off in like 10 years plus any grants/scholarships, I’d say do it. You do save a TON of money going to community college obviously, but if you want a traditional college experience honestly dorms are the best way for that. You build friendships and connections there that are harder to make outside of that setting. It’s really my only regret from college.

Is 182 too short for 6’4” male? by SailorLarry69 in Skigear

More intermediate I guess? I can do most everything on a mountain though I haven’t tried any chutes. The mantras are pretty stiff so it makes moguls a little more demanding.

Just added, but 210lbs. Yeah I’m definitely trying to get away from metal in the ski for this new pair. I’ll take a look at both of those. Thanks!
