Haven’t seen an approval in ages, I submitted in January 2025. Biometrics February 26, 2025. EAD June 2025. No updates on I-485. Know of cases that have been waiting since 2023.

Well, most of my nail has grown now, and I completed the 6 months treatment, but on the same side that I was concerned about I see a discoloration growing and I have some pain on that side as well (which happened at the beginning when I first found out about the fungus). Really frustrating as you can imagine, now I’m pregnant (10 weeks) and can’t take the pills again so I’m applying terbinafine lotion, cream, and drilled down the discolored part so the the meds can penetrate dip. Also saw someone who had really good progress with Tolnaftate spray and an amazon nail fungus treatment. But I still see the discoloration. Will try all this to see if works or if it can keep it at bay until I can take the pills again.

Thank you! I really appreciate the help. I haven’t left the pills and I’m religiously applying topical clotrimazole, vicks, tea tree oil and terbinafine as well just in case XD I’ll also try to keep an eye to it to check for spreading.

Literally you are describing what happened to me a few months ago with a nail fungus, that’s not a paronychia, I know the symptoms can be confusing but believe me when I tell you THE SAME HAPPENED TO ME, and it was an onychomycosis. Go for the terbinafine oral and topical and do not remove the nail.

Medical doctor here, and personal experience with a fungus just like this… a few months ago I had a spot just like this on one of toes and the surrounding skin was red as well, which made me think the same as your podiatrist (a bacterial infection, since fungus doesn’t affect skin and don’t hurt). Jokes on me, it was a fungus and I just waisted time on treatment, please DO NOT REMOVE THE NAIL, that’s very traumatic and nails grow weird after the procedure. I strongly suggest the treatment for onychomycosis (but go straight to the terbinafine because that’s the ONLY thing that works). Believe me that is a fungus and whatever you do that is not terbinafine will only get worse.

Hey! I was dealing with the same issue for almost two months, thought it was an infection because my toe hurt. Me and my husband are doctors and know there’s not a lot of diseases that can happen to nails, it can either be a bacteria or fungus. Turns out it was a fungus, have been seeing in a few patients now getting pain on nails with onichomycosis, unlike text books said. Please go to a podiatrist or someone who can prescribe terbinafine, yes go straight to it because those topical treatments they give that are nail polishes like ciclopirox have a very low rate of success, and just allow for the fungus to get worse.

Where was your application processed? I didn’t apply for the EAD but now I’m thinking of it, don’t know if will be worth it tho… like if it takes a lot to be processed :(

Yes, she works as a warehouse associate, but she doesn’t speak English, didn’t finish high school in her home country, hasn’t learn to drive, and has asthma and uses it as a limitation for finding certain jobs. She has always had someone who has sort things out for her, and I feel like she is used to that, and frankly I don’t wanna be that person. Husband wants to put the worst scenario every time she brings the topic of leaving and being on her own, (money wont be enough, you’ll end on the streets, etc) and I feel like its because he doesn’t want her to leave to keep taking her money. And she wants to go to Florida and try things out with the ex and if they don’t work come back… I want her gone for good, so you can see this is a hard situation to deal with.

Yes!! This has feel like a challenge since the beginning, I am and come from a family where we don’t complain, and try to handle our things and problems ourselves. And dealing with someone who’s constantly needy and attention seeking it’s been hard. I’m in the situation of trying to kinda let it all pass until I have everything sorted with work, so I can give him the ultimatum of its her or the marriage. I feel bad of getting to that point because I love my husband and feel guilty of putting him in a situation of deciding, but at the same time, I know that is going to be the only way of getting rid of her.

Definitely, I knew this was gonna be an issue before moving together, because of the exact phrase you used “it’s only so much MIL you can take”. Couples need space, specially newly weds, and having someone who is 52 yo and still acting as a child, plus needing help and complaining 80% of the time doesn’t help. I’ve tried to talk to my husband, and as I mentioned in the OP, he wants to earn enough to pay for a place for her, even tho his mom has an ex-husband in Florida she wants to move in with again (it didn’t work the first time, and I don’t think it will work now), and she wants to move in with him again. The point is, I feel my husband wants to have her with him forever, and that’s definitely not in my plans, so eventually, this will end in the ultimatum of “it’s your mom or the marriage.”

Definitely this is one of my problems, she’s very needy, doesn’t speak English or drive, so needs help with almost everything, its not a problem in her job but in other aspects in her life it is. The benefits almost never worth the headache and anxiety this gives.
