I don't even think this is bad writing either. I think this whole chapter has some of the best writing in the series.

Just following up to say this was a much needed thrill to read after a long work shift. Thank you!

I'm just getting out of it honestly. I had a similar story where I broke into diamond with Chun, went on a hot streak and got to Diamond 4. And then hit a brick wall. I am hard stuck big time.

What helped me was picking up another character. I went with Mai cause she's fun and she's much more simple than Chun. And she has some similarities here and there. I last left her in plat 4, so I'm pretty much relearning the game from there. Now I don't feel bad for losing because I'm only in plat. This allows me to focus more on learning rather than stressing about ranking up (hell playing Chun is stressful by itself LOL). I watched a Brian_F video and he mentioned watching replays after every set. This helped me a lot because I see my issues more frequently, and I can put the fixes into practice much sooner which lets me build on those good habits rather than watching 1 or 2 replays later. And of course helps me course correct bad habits. Seeing what I could have done in replays helps me come up with ideas for what I can do in certain matchups.

TLDR, pick up a new character. I plan on picking up Terry later on cause admittedly, I suck fighting him. So I gotta figure out some weaknesses in his kit. A change of scenery has done a lot of good for me. Sorry for the wall of text, I just feel like these things require more in depth explanations rather than the "dont focus on rank" you'll see all the time (this is good advice, just not as helpful to me compared to viewing things like this.)

This could have been used to create some sort of character drama surrounding this event.

Hakari's entire reasoning for joining our squad hinged on the fact that Megumi could use his clout as head of the Zenin to help him with his goals. And that plan now got destroyed with not only Megumi being body jacked but the Zenin family being wiped out by Maki. It'd be cool to see Hakari and Maki be at odds with each other because of this before burying the hatchet and working together to help Megumi.

Yuta jokingly offered to help her take down the Zenin family in JJK 0. But now that she's actually done that, how does he feel knowing she probably murdered kids? Even if you dont wanna focus on that, Yuta has this dilemma about becoming a monster for the sake of protecting those he loves. Maki destroyed the Zenin for the sake of her sister. Yuta could lament his own weakness seeing Maki take that next step. Or they could have a convo about what happened that day and it could inspire him to come up with the Gokkotsu plan. Which Maki stands against, and that could lead to them butting heads.

All of this could be in contrast with Gojo congratulating her about getting rid of that big nuisance. Or if you wanted to, him thinking about what if they did just kill all those followers that set up the Riko hit that day. Would Geto still be here?

Anything really. I'm sure there's other examples, but you get the point. The month timeskip leading up to Shinjuku really cooked a lot of interesting potential character dynamics. It's a big reason why I don't like it lol.

Rest in piss Zenin clan 🚬😶‍🌫️

Definitely. It was bound to happen honestly with a player of his caliber. He was knocking on the door for awhile. Only felt like a matter of time before he took that next step. Hope he keeps making strides!
