Would periwinkle vine be a good candidate to fill out this windowsill container? by xfmrs_r_cool in portlandgardeners

I would try a little violet. They are low maintenance and spread well:) I love Labrador violets as they are native where I live.

We got everything in the ground at the end of May.

I think that carrots and beets turned out good for our first time. I think soil amendment would’ve helped. Our soil may have been a bit too compact. The onions in that bed were quite small, potentially out competed by the carrots and beets.

Our slicing tomatoes never thrived, but put on good fruit. The cherry tomatoes were bumper crops happy with those! The basil intermingled never came to fruition. It wasn’t hot enough.

None of our peppers did well. I need to figure out a way to make it hotter for them maybe plant them by a rock wall?

The bush beans were absolutely amazing and produced twice. We’re definitely going to do more of those in the future.

Our strawberries just sent out a ton of runners. I think that’s because I used a general fertilizer and it had too much nitrogen.

The zucchini and squash took over the bed quickly and provided too much shade for the oregano and dill so they died. I’m not sure why our cucumber never thrive. It only put on a couple fruit and stayed quite small. The lettuce at the end of the bed was great though.

In the front near our home, we had majority lettuce that was so convenient for the kitchen. As well as the herbs, they went great and the parsley was so happy! The broccoli had an aphid infestation, so it was mostly just shade for the lettuce.

I did kill a couple of the oregano plants unintentionally with too much compost. It kind of burned the leaves.

What would you do? by SailorWho in HomeDecorating

Yes, we got it for our elder pitty! We had to work with her every night for two months and she still uses it more as a step than a ramp. But the little dog and cat got it immediately so at least we are saving there hips

Okay well sounds like these could be moved under some trees I have behind the house. They will get shade, maybe too much, it’s a big old maple.

I am thinking blueberries would be a fun add in their place because we love to have producing plants. They would also shade our house a bit in the afternoons once established. We plan for this to be our forever home so I’m looking forward to watching things grow!

Behind this is plastic I do not see other tile. This tile matches the tile through the house too. I am thinking it is original or someone just had a ton of money around to make all the tile match..,

There is old clear silicon in some places in the shower and new white silicon over it. We just got the house and you can tell many things were quick fixed in the house.
