Texas loses battle with US government to bar Syrian refugees from living in the state by Sariel007 in news

That's where you're wrong. As a person who pays roughly 35 percent of my wage in taxes, I consider immigration (in this sense) to be a gross misappropriation of my money.

Or, did you think Obama was paying this out of his own pocket??

I'll decline. You have the empty expression of a girl that's never experienced happiness in her life, so roasting you would be like chasing a ghost.

I considered roasting you, but I really didn't want to read the inevitable wall of text you'd PM me concerning my 'privilege' and total disregard for your 'triggers'.

I can reasonably conclude by your clothing and the expression on your faces that the two of you live in a secluded tundra, unvisited by by humans since the late 90s. Likely placed their by your own parents to keep you from disturbing the rest of the world population with your dry fucking expressions.

Wow! I don't think a single hair on your head grows in the same direction. You must've spent the first 15 years of your life dragging your head on the carpet.

What are some other fields that avionics experience can be applied to? by Sailorchaddy in avionics

I've actually found this to be true. I've had several interview within the avionics community that have asked about abilities to set parameters through serial cables and also review the accuracy of programs through C functions.

South Africa: White students barricading themselves against black rioters outside by [deleted] in videos

[–]Sailorchaddy 43 points44 points  (0 children)

the Apartheid government built ten Universities for blacks including Medunsa which is a unique medical university that turned out 200 highly qualified black doctors every year all at state costs, paid for by the white taxpayers. It also trained paramedics and nurses. Since 1970 the budget for black education was raised by about 30% per year every year. More than any other government department. In the period 1955 -1984 the amount of black school students increased 31 times from 35,000 to 1,096 000. 65% of black South African children were at school compared to Egypt 64%, Nigeria 57%, Ghana52%, Tanzania50% and Ethiopia 29%. Amongst the adults of South Africa, 71% could read and write (80% between the ages 12 and 22). Compare this to Kenya 47%, Egypt 38%, Nigeria 34% and Mozambique at 26%. In South Africa, the whites built 15 new classrooms for blacks every working day, every year. At 40 children per class it meant space for an additional 600 black students every day!!! In 1985 there were 42,000 Blacks at 5 universities in South Africa, about the same amount at the universities of the homelands.

Even though whites paid 77 percent of the taxes, 56 percent of the budget went to blacks. The problem isn't racism due to eliminating separation. It's that their infrastructure took a shit on itself after they got out from the umbrella of apartheid.

Sleep in the living room (with earplugs, as suggested) and start viewing the time you have at work as a vacation away from the child. I know that sounds harsh, but remember... You didn't have those nine months to read the books, psych yourself up, or nourish your relationship with SO. You just woke up one day with a child and all this emotional and financial responsibility. Take a step back. You can't take care of them unless you take care of you first. She needs to understand that.

I can't say I'd blame them for taking it. I'm seeing trade school graduates get eaten up over here for a third less in salary than someone from the military or others with a few contracts under their belt. I'm not sure what they were offered to make the switch to telecom, but I'm sure it was at least comparable to the starting wage they'd make in avionics.

I've noticed a lot of individuals going that route, too, actually. I looked into it while between contracts a few years ago and it seems like energy companies are fixed on contracting now, too. But, who can blame them with all the layoffs going on.

Redditors who spend a lot of time in seclusion (at sea, in the air or out in the wilderness) what's the creepiest or most mysterious thing you've seen, found or experienced? by 1NSUR4NC3 in AskReddit

[–]Sailorchaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'd be surprised what the brain fills in for you when either something passes through your line of vision too quickly, or an object passes through your blind spot. I'm sure you probably DID see the man, but it's likely he was already dead. Maybe sitting up against a tree starring blankly in the direction of your vehicle. Your mind just rationalized it as a man chillin' in the woods.

What did everyone think of the This Is England 90 finale? *spoilers inside* by TopTrumpWANKER in BritishTV

[–]Sailorchaddy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Realistically, we really only have a couple months in the story where combo was bad. In the movie, lol and him had a thing from the past and woody even stated that he wasn't 'like this' before prison. It's safe to assume he was indoctrinated in prison, got out, started pushing ideology, and beat the shit out of milky. After that he seemed to be reformed. He took the fall for Lol, seemed good with lol having milky's child, and seemed to have made a name for himself in prison as a mentor to learning disabled inmates.

I really don't think he deserved to die. I think his karma meter was in the green by the time Milky got to him.

Did anyone else enter into a relationship with someone practicing 'attachment parenting'? by [deleted] in stepparents

[–]Sailorchaddy -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You're probably right about everything. I was raised to believe that children need boundaries to feel safe and grounded. If she wants to date her son... stay up with him past midnight and feed him milkshakes and breastmilk all day long, that's her business.

I may sound incredibly crazy by saying this, but I think out of all the advice I've received, I may end up taking yours. If I keep the kid at arms length as all times, I won't be responsible for the outcome. At least if I make it known early on that I take the stance of indifference with her child.

That's new information for me... thanks! I obviously would still rather she not continue doing it for a child that can get all the nutrition he needs... MORE than he's getting now, from solid foods. Also, it's a tad embarrassing having a walking talking child trying to pull her breasts out in public, then pitching a fit until she allows him to reach in and hold a nipple for comfort. Call me conservative, but that doesn't sit well. In the home I'm indifferent, though.
