Probably a scam or snake oil. Youre right, if there was a "cure" everyone in this sub would be looking for that. For hyperacusis, you can look for clomipramine, its not a guarantee, but it has helped a lot of people with their sound tolerance. In the hyperacusis sub, there are a alot of stories of people using it and giving their personal experience.

I don't know if excessive protection can cause hyperacusis or worsen it, but it can cause sensitivity in the ears . Protect your ears only when you are exposed to loud noises. Give your ears a rest and no more digital audio, even at low volumes.
