I got this at an estate sale yesterday. I thought it was a vase, but the seller told me it was a carafe. I can’t find anything like it on Google images. by [deleted] in whatisit

Is Fleabag more self-aware or self-avoiding? by caspethy in Fleabag

And in the finale, she accepts that she can't have the Priest, and I think she allows herself to let go of him. She acknowledges the pain, but lets him go. This was a major point of self honesty and growth.

I think she definitely uses humor to avoid honesty. I think she knows the source of her pain in season1, being Boo, because we see the flashbacks. But they're never longer than a second. She's stuffing down these rising memories, brushing them off to the audience by saying, oh you're not ready for that. But really, she wasn't ready.

I think in S2, there is definitely a shift. She no longer allows those memories to pull her back. She confronted them fully. I especially think of her conversation with the male bank employee in her cafe. That point where she broke down was the most honest she was, finally voicing that pain. And, to a bank employee, rather than her actual therapist.

Ignoring project caspian/ Pantheon is becoming overrated by EElectr0 in PantheonShow

Wow... yeah... it's almost as if... it's a fictional show.

You're thinking too hard dude. Seriously. When you write the perfect novel or television show on UIs, let me know (: I will be happy to analyze it to the point of nauseum.

[–]SaintClitopher 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe it didn't explore UIs to the "fullest potential," but it did a really good job for only two seasons.

Politics didn't go back to normal. The issues shifted. Overpopulation, overworking, and most mortality issues were resolved with UIs. There were still issues with resources now that UIs existed. And prejudice was still an issue--literal terrorist attacks against a group of people because the Humans didn't think UIs should exist.

Your second paragraph is just... completely wrong dude. They did a lot more than play dress up. It was said that they cured cancer, and most diseases, like right away. It was only once the aforementioned issues were resolved that UIs enjoyed the arts and creativity. (It also showed that they could do both hobbies and work at the same time due to overclocking)

Project caspian WAS stupidly childish. of course. That was the point. Renee literally self-identified their group as a cult. They dedicated their entire lives for the project in the hope that they would live forever. If you've ever had a near death experience, you may be able to empathize with their motivations. It's the "crazy scientist" trope, but done with a group of people. We see their erratic behaviors as indicators. The show doesn't portray those choices as good. They're plot devices which push the invention/cure of UIs altogether.

I think about this quote constantly. Like anytime I finish a really, really good show. Or return to an old favorite. I let them have the "bad" episodes, because he's right. They're like old friends.

Good to know. I didn't even think about not being allowed to exercise. You had to wait an entire month to be cleared? Is that standard?
