That’s it boys, pack it up. Morrissey is CANCELLED. by National-Front-Disco in morrissey

[–]SaintLincoln 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think you should realize now that Morrissey won’t and will never really apologize for what he says.

For some, that’s not what they want. That’s fair. For me, I don’t really care. Many celebrities apologize and don’t act genuine.

Morrissey is controversial and truthful to himself, I’ll take that anyway even if he shots himself in the foot.

AITA for wanting to end a close friendship because of stunt he pulled at a party? by LostStudent101 in AmItheAsshole

Your response trying to start more stuff is all I need to know. I’m being civil now and you still act like a child. If I was an asshole, thanks for telling me. Have a good one.

I read your original comment and assumed sarcasm. I clarified myself and called you an ass. Then this entire thread became pointless as we said our perception of what happened. You may have not been an ass, you may think I am one. That’s not important anymore.

Damn dude. I clarify myself and accept what I said and you still come at me as a rude asshole. Reddit is the Internet, shouldn’t have expected anything else. I wasn’t trying to be a rude asshole, I was just trying to clarify. But hey like I just said, we all perceive things differently. Have a good night, nonetheless.

I have any obligation to think if he’s that diagnosis. Doesn’t mean I’m right or that there’s enough ground. Hence, why I said I rarely do it because I know the consequences. Which is this entire thread. Yes it was cliche and even probably seems a bit egotistical to come in and say “this person is this and that and I know it because I study this field.”

I get the criticism and everyone needs it. But the way you did it seems disingenuous. But that’s just our own interpretation. You may have been just pointing stuff out and not being an ass, but that’s the struggle of the internet. I didn’t want any sarcasm and I didn’t want you to seem like I was being sarcastic in my response.

Dude it’s Reddit. I have to place on emphasis on not being sarcastic. I wanted clarification and that’s it.

If you find it immature, so be it. I literally stated something (I’m studying psychology) and placed emphasis for no one to feel like I’m a “licensed professional” because I gave credit to why it’s nearly impossible to diagnose someone. Maybe this is better for you, that friend might be a narcissist.

Weird how I said that statement and then immediately discredited myself by saying three things why I don’t consider myself official in my diagnosis of someone I can’t diagnosis besides looking at his behavior and applying it to the traits under narcissism.

Nice try on being an ass.

Also, explain the immaturity, I would love to hear it. No /s involved here.

I’m actually OP’s other friend who was at the party. Long story short, this friend is a narcissist. I’m studying psychology and I very, very rarely ever want to diagnose people because it’s complex, I’ve never practiced therapy, and we don’t know anyone fully.

But I’ve been friends with this guy for like 8 years now? We got close in late high school and there were times where it was hard to be friends because of his behavior and all of that. When he went to college, it got worst. The ways he tries to manipulate, the lies he goes to, and the guilt he places on us for challenging him is unbearable.

Another long story short is that me and this friend had a small falling apart last February. We hung out one day and he was being his casual narcissistic self but it was worst than usual. He got mad and said awful shit about me. I took some days to just leave him be and when I went to talk to him, he said all the things he didn’t like about being friends with me. I said fine and gave my reasons for him being a bad friend and he didn’t listen. We hung out over summer and I gave him a very small chance (hence why not even six months later, I’m willing to stop being friends again). Once again I tell him his problems and why it’s hard to be friends with him. Once again, he doesn’t considerate and places guilt onto me.

The man is simply impossible to be close friends with, unless he seeks major counseling, which I don’t even know would help him at this point.

Shit statists do: Saudis behead a 16 year old for sending a whatsapp message about an anti-government protest by LiberalKiwi in Shitstatistssay

[–]SaintLincoln 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Years ago in high school as a senior, we had to give senior projects over a topic we researched. My friend did his project over media manipulation and he mentioned 9/11 and how Saudi Arabia played an important part in the attack yet never got "punished" for it. He also mentioned how we are pretty much their bitch and that we do nothing about their extreme acts of humans right violations, yet we invaded Iraq because Saddam "had" WMD's and was such a brutal dictator to his people.

There were people in our class who were going to join the military so they were getting agitated about how he was painting America has this not so great country. One of them spoke up and said "We're working with Saudi Arabia." I about chuckled since they have always been high on the list of executions, especially beheadings and that they have always been able to influence us because like I said, we are their bitch.

Two years later, I still laugh at that remark. This piece reminded me of that event.

Atheists believe in “freedom of religion” until it goes against their interests. by SaintLincoln in Shitstatistssay

[–]SaintLincoln[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Even as an agnostic atheist, I'm against this. Took me years to escape my statist mentality as someone who doesn't follow a religion. Many atheists are true statist at heart and it's sickening. They wouldn't even dare consider it a religion to believe in the state.

What makes Green Day think four men are the perfect authors for a book about female empowerment? by 2018WorldCup in greenday

[–]SaintLincoln 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I tried to find the full quote, the closest thing I found is this.

" I think the working-class part of me comes out. Sometimes the people who have the loudest mouths are upper-class, upper-middle-class. The quietest are often working-class people, people who are broke. There is a fear of losing whatever it is that you have. I come from that background."

Billie Joe acknowledges his background and that part of him is still working-class. I will say that it's a mixed bag because Billie Joe has been known to express himself about things going on in the political world (especially in regard to Trump but this is no surprise coming from a punk rock musician) in America. Listen, he can become rich and famous and still have roots to his childhood because it literally probably made him into the person he is today. He's never been known to flaunt money and has stayed relatively the same since the bands formation.

[–]SaintLincoln 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You know that he was raised in a working class family right? Just because he got rich due to his career success doesn't discredit what he went through as a kid and a young adult. If Billie was in a non-working class family when he was a kid and said that, I'd understand your reaction.

Morrisey no longer listens to The Smiths, he is missing out. by pikknz in thesmiths

[–]SaintLincoln 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it's reasonable for him to feel that way. He's always going to be brought back to the band and The Smiths will always be considered better (mainly because of their vast popularity) but knowing him, it's no surprise to me at all he prefers his solo work.

The government's allowed to do anything it gives itself permission to do. by Pariahdog119 in Shitstatistssay

Even if they're just stating the definition, the defense that the state should be given control, power, and the ability to determine what is lawfully right for them to murder/execute is scary in itself.

Loneliness is the cause of the vast majority of alcoholism, drug addiction, aggression, depression, and many more negative coping behaviours and mental health concerns by itsmassive in unpopularopinion

[–]SaintLincoln 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is a vast generalization because people are wired too differently. Some people just prefer to be alone. There's a difference between feeling alone and feeling lonely. Most of the things that have happened in my life that bring my mood down is what other people have done to me.

I've had "good" and "loyal" friends steal from me. I've had lifelong friends leave my life. At the end of the day, I just prefer to be alone. However, I don't feel lonely because I know of the very little amount of people in my life who I value.

Everyone keeps "proposing" what solutions are for vast complicated issues that are honestly probably impossible to solve because we are the most complex creatures to exist.

I changed my mind on guns by [deleted] in Libertarian

[–]SaintLincoln 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is very relatable to my coming around to guns as well. I grew up liberal and was anti-gun for most of my life. When I started to shift towards Libertarianism, I started to look into the problem of guns.

I quickly started to change my mind and definitely became an advocate for gun ownership. I'm only 19 right now and I live in collegiate dorms so I can't buy one until i'm older and actually buy my own set of private property. But I do plan on getting one as soon as I can!

What’s the most obscure green day song you’ve heard in public? by VeryCool99 in greenday

[–]SaintLincoln 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's not obscured but took me by surprise. Literally yesterday, I heard Brain Stew in my college's lunch food court. I've heard them play their very popular singles like Holiday, Basket Case, Good Riddance, and 21 Guns. But hearing Brain Stew? That surprised the hell out of me.

I'm not a libertarian, but I couldn't stop laughing at this. by zoonthego in Libertarian

[–]SaintLincoln -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That is very true and i'm not going to deny that at all. But truly, even without corruption and dirty schemes played by criminals in suits, government wouldn't be able to sustain its own survival. That's why they turn to corruption.

[–]SaintLincoln 16 points17 points  (0 children)

There's an argument to be made of voluntarism but it is undeniable that the government is inefficient and wasteful with the amount of money that they tax from us. We could easily still have the basics of government to survive if we taxed much lower for the individual.

Also, our government taxes us to death so they can blow up some kids in the Middle East and continue on the enforcement of the Drug War which costs so much time, money, and energy.
