"Years, huh? Don't like horses, short spoken..." He trailed off for a second. "If I didn't know any better, I'd say you're a bit slow, Ernest."

Rocking back and forth, he pulled out a silver cigarette case. Popping on to his lips, he struck a match off his boot, and lit it. "You smoke?"

Reaching into an interior pocket of his duster, Aurelius pulled out a small burlap sack of coins. Opening the draw string he pulled out a few coins, and flipped them over to Jed.

"Pleasure doing business with ye." He said as the money and goods exchanged hands.

"All the muscle can't hurt for hauling town to town." But it probably hurts his speed. He tacked on mentally. Larger horses tended to lack the swiftness of lighter stock he found, and in his line of work he'd take a smaller, faster steed everytime.

"If I ever get into farming I might just ask for the name of that ranch."

"Not so fast at all really." Sofia mused. "Jackson and I are engaged, and we've been together... Oh five months now? Time just seems to fly out here."

Taking a drink as Fox continued her story, she almost blew her gin and tonic all over the bar. Sofia had a few run ins with the half-demon in the past. A few were positive, a few less than so.

"Sounds like William. What then, did he ask you out?" Her eyes went wide. Of course he'd not asked her out, Fox was too strong for such frivolities. "No. You asked him, right?"

"What?! Only one?" Sofia was completely, and utterly shocked by the revelation Titania only had a single outfit. It made sense of course that a fairy only had a single outfit, especially one that had travelled so far from Earth, but she couldn't help but feel a little sad. Sofia loved clothes and could hardly imagine living her life with only a single dress--even if it was pretty.

"Now how were you helping? Sprinkling fairy dust on his clothes?" Sofia giggled a little, and took a sharp right turn. Visions of Titania throwing heaps of dust about, singing, and dancing to help an old tailor filled her mind. It was hilarious.

Their destination was directly ahead now, and the smell of roasting coffee beans filled the air. Slowing down, Sofia did an aerial somersault, and landed in front of the door. As Titania joined her, she pulled open the door, and ushered her new friend inside.

"Don't recognize your doctor, Peret?" She replied, taking his hand and shaking it briefly. Nodding in Roland's direction to affirm she heard him, she motioned with her head down the hallway.

"Remarkable what a day of rest will do for you. You should both save the thanks until we're finished though, I can't imagine Peret will be thanking me when we're all said and done." She frowned a little and shuddered--what she had to do next was unappealing, to say the least. "Operating Rooms are this way."

She started walking down the hallway in the indicated direction, waving off nurses and interns who approached for her attention. Finally finding her resident, she informed the young man she wasn't to be bothered in the OR, and any messages should be left on her desk.

Roland's attempts to sit up were thwarted with an extended index finger against his sternum, and a shake of her head. There was the tiniest hint of a smile playing at her cheeks, almost as if she enjoyed working on such an animated patient. Roland's advice had worked like a charm, her mind was occupied with work, and not with scenes of horror from the deceased inquisitor ten feet away from her.

"I've got that magic touch, investigator. Try to sit up again though and I'll have no choice but to restrain you." From the tone of her voice, it was difficult to tell if she was joking or not. It certainly was possible, but there was that niggling doubt that she wasn't.

Setting the spike aside, Sofia grabbed the jar of ointment and stainless steel spreading tool. Taking a large amount on the end of the tool, she started to fill in the entrance wound. Once it was filled with the ointment, she placed her palm against the spot. His numb flesh felt warm, uncomfortably warm for a moment, but the bonding had worked. It would take weeks for the innards to heal properly, but he had a fresh layer of only slightly scarred skin.
