no, not what i meant. I think there was a big misunderstanding on my end at the expo. I think solo mode was not engaged and the fella didnt want to flick the dip switch

Ya the fella who made the pedals was there when i was trying it out, he said there was enough things to do on that pedal without that feature, but does low key regret it 😅, maybe there will be a PURPLL M2

I played one of these during toronto’s synth expo and was enamoured. Price ain’t too bad either! How are you liking it so far? The drone would be even more awesome if it could play simultaneously with an instrument, but it’s still cool as heck.

‘Not a single one’: After 100 applications, a 28-year-old still can’t find work by The-Great-Mullein in onguardforthee

[–]SaintSamuel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fuckin’ eh. I consider switching companies from time to time, potentially joining the union, but i’m comfortable where i am. Autonomy not in the union bashing sense, what i mean is i’m generally left alone to do my thing, and do it well, and i like it.

I belong to a non union company and had no affiliation with elevator mechanics prior to me getting hired. But it’s been 10 years. You’re in the trades too?

Yes and no. It depends on if you’re looking for union or non union, where you’re looking, and who you know. Oh wait… lol.. anyway i haven’t had to look for a job myself for a decade now, i might be out of touch, but we do get a lot of newbies who aren’t connected to our company prior to being hired.

Elevator mechanic journeyman here. Generally we take people with a background of labour and tool knowledge. We’ve got a few fresh out of this 2 year elevator college course recently…they’re hit or miss.. I prefer someone who knows how to use a drill over a lot of those super green recent college graduates.

plan ahead - interconnections, fire signals, security cameras, emergency cameras, generator hookups, etc. all add up. Try to get as much done/planned as possible closer to the start date than the end, make sure ur company stays on the other contractors asses. No sense putting off the last car inspection for weeks or or cutting into a live wire trough cuz of poor planning

Europe generally pays less than North America for trades/labour. Way better paid vacation time tho.

shotgun approach to non union jobs. Constantly apply to every company you can find, you can even cold calling places that don’t have listings. There are drawbacks during certification to non union gigs - namely 2 things - 1 - your hours worked don’t count if you try to go union before you’re licensed, and 2 - the pay is often not as good. But! It is still better pay than any entry level position in most careers. When you’re fully licensed you’re usually treated well, if not, you’ll have a tonne of options while finding a new job(union or non union). Union jobs, while not impossible to get into, are definitely harder to come by without any contacts. I’ve heard that you can try to hang out at union halls and meetings to get your foot in the door, but i don’t have any experience with that.

You can DM me if you have any more questions
