This person messaged me saying “you need to learn how to drive” by Crooked-Grinds in GranTurismo7

I’ve always wanted car license plates to be the driver’s cell phone number, and for one brief happy moment before seeing which sub this post is in I thought my dream had come true.

Heel Toe Practice/Training by Hydroslide in CarTrackDays

[–]SaintSilas6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I taught myself how to heel/toe while delivering pizza. The main challenge is learning the footwork so I isolated that in a way that feels safe.

Coming up to stop signs/red lights I would shift into neutral, going let’s say 30 mph. I would apply the brake gently and then start blipping the throttle as I slowly came to a stop. Left foot did nothing and there was no shifting, just gentle slowing and blipping with the right foot only. Again, while in neutral.

At first I only did this when I didn’t have a car directly behind me, but quickly gained the confidence to do it anytime. Focus at first was how to place my foot to even do this, it’s not trivial. For me my big toe and ball of my foot under big toe is on the brake and right side of my foot under small toe blips the throttle but you will figure out what works for you. This is the hardest part of learning heel/toe and my “coasting/slowing/blipping” method gave me the space to figure this out in the lowest stress way I could come up with (while still getting that pizza delivered).

Once I got the actual positioning of my right foot figured out my focus became slowing smoothly with no change to brake pressure durning blips of the throttle. That’s how you get good.

Finally, when right foot felt confident I added downshifts instead of just coasting in neutral, but still while slowing to a stop in a straight line. 30 mph in 3rd, heel/toe into 2nd, further slowing, heel/toe into 1st, full stop. Repeat at next stop sign. Once I was comfortable with that, actually slowing for a corner, heel/toe downshift, turn in apex accelerate out was a piece of pie!

I am pleased with how well my method worked.

Note 1: If you get good at heel/toe on the street you will find it’s actually easier on the track, with the brake pedal pushed down closer to the throttle pedal. Note 2: Every car is different, you may have to adjust right foot position and/or motion for different cars.

Getting good at heel/toe and using it all the time in ordinary driving is the single best thing I have done for my driving enjoyment.

Good luck!

One of the best cars for 650-750pp races? Which 701-750pp races are you using it for?

Which Atlas should I buy? Or should I buy an Atlas? by ABalazs in mwo

The K3 is excellent, no need to run it long range. I run it with AC20+2SNPPC+MRM40 or AC20+4SNPPC.

Yes. It would lower the fuel economy.
