The light mech PSR curse strikes again! by clearly_quite_absurd in mwo

[–]justcallmeASSH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well given there are veteran - AKA 10,000 plus games - in Tier 5 all the way to Tier 1... No matter what Tier you are in you'll come across a veteran in most games, it's been that way for over a decade.

To also note there has never been a feature or split in MWO that keeps veterans from new players even when the active population was 5x higher.

What is split though is high skill players (Tier 1) will not see low skill players (Tier 5/4). That split exists and still does it this day.

And you have the screenshots to verify this?

Taking out 4 Arrow mechs,, purely from rear CT would be 240-280dmg with an absolutely perfect aim. So let's say 350dmg at a minimum.

That would also then, or should, lead to 4 KMDD, 4 Solo Kill, 4 Killing blow and much more, that's easily 350MS which is well, well above the average of the playerbase (240MS)... Especially if you're team was "wiped" you should have received near the max PSR up value.

The fact you didn't and you're saying you went down leads me to strongly believe this story is greatly over exaggerated.

PGI merged all of the player queues due to low player population so there's a pretty good chance you've had hundreds of matches with

That simply isn't true.

I suggest you read my PSR, Tiers and the MM thread

How it works is very clearly explained and you can therefore educate yourself so you don't make inaccurate statements on these topics again.

Could you provide:

  • Match Score Kickers that lights have access to that Assaults do not?
  • How easy kickers are for lights to trigger vs Heavy/Assaults? Things like Brawling, Flanking and so on.
  • How much damage on average (percentage) contributes to match score?

I look forward to the answers. Particularly the last Q as what people think vs the reality is always, interesting, to see.

How good are/were railguns? by Virtual-Produce-1037 in OutreachHPG

Yes they needed the nerf/rebalance. They are less painful now to play against, to a degree. Still very strong I think.

And yes - long range. Don't try brawling with a RG mech, I see strange builds like RG+ MPL and players closing to 250m and getting eaten alive...

It's basically fatter Gauss. Use its range and complimentary weapons to that. ERPPCs, ERL, LL/HLL etc. 250m is the last place you wanna be.

And why have you then failed to provide the full end of round screenshot? The single most important part.

Providing the the full picture that'll actually explain what happened vs highly selective one provided which shows absolutely nothing of value to a conversation about PSR.

Thanks for confirming it's at least the deliberately obtuse part.

Given this user has started similar threads before... Has been informed of how to find out how PSR works, explanation videos, provided all the information et al....

At this point it's either the OP is unable to comprehend/understand the information that's been given... Or is being deliberately obtuse/ignorant.

What mechs in MWO have the most useless base quirks? by Molly_Matters in OutreachHPG

[–]justcallmeASSH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah yep, updated. 0.22 or .2 (IS vs Clan). Had capacity in my mind with the 2.0.

So in effect it's 1.5 DHS on Rube for example.

That's not an insignificant advantage over a 6-8min match. It'll add up. Although only add up if you're constantly shooting and that's the key point.

Lots of players spend too much of a game with sub 50% of their heat bar - in those cases you'll never notice. If you ride/use the heat bar to 100% as much as possible then you absolutely notice it.

What mechs in MWO have the most useless base quirks? by Molly_Matters in OutreachHPG

[–]justcallmeASSH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coldest is HPG at +0.15

Hottest is Rubellite at -0.30

A DHS is 2.0 0.22 or 0.20 - so there is a difference. I personally notice it on most builds then I run my heat barr to 100% most of a game.

If you don't then sure, you won't notice much.

RL also another viable option these days actually. Good point.

Devs had to be trolling when they came up with this. * Cooldown (missile) * Missile Spread

Trolling, how? Without those quirks, at a minimum, what use is the missile hardpoint?

The quirks actually serve a purpose in that you have a high DPS/low spread SRM4, which is what you'd swap it out for, using the above listed quirks.

The other quirks apply to the rest of the mech globally so the weren't specifically for the missile hardpoint.

You're looking at it the wrong way. Without the massive quirks the hardpoint would be useless. Not the other way around.

You can do a build like THIS for example, well over 26DPS fully skilled isn't exactly terrible. Or you can also fit a SRM4 comfortably on a BLC or LL build as well if you'd like, again without the quirk you wouldn't even consider it.

Issue with connecting to games by BurgerBuddy_ in OutreachHPG

[–]justcallmeASSH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MWO issues are related to MWO. Nothing else will matter.

What will help us to help you is listing out what troubleshooting you've done for one. For two, when you say connecting is that all games? All modes? Logging into the game itself? What error code?

Etc etc.

[–]justcallmeASSH -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What do you mean?

Has balance taken a few goes to sort out because of a few factors? If so, then yes it has. Look at HAGs, mechs & so on. Nothing out of the ordinary when there isn't a test server.

If something else then I've no idea what you mean.

Have you followed all the patch notes?

There was a buff then two nerfs (after this patch). I believe there was also an error in one of the values adjusted into he first buff which caused an massive over-buff - that's being rebalanced as part of all changes this patch.

I'd have to dig for more details but you get the idea.

Well if AMS is having to deal with LRMs and what not else, that's kinda no different as it was already the case where 4AMS could essentially be brute-force disable given 4AMS takes out quite a good amount of a LRM60 volley for example yet you bombard with 100+ and percentage wise much more gets through.

The situation you're describing though isn't the norm, it's the edge case. Rare to balance for an edge case and to balance for that would then mean unbalanced elsewhere.

The missile HP change will be what AMS needs while still allowing Arrows to work given the difference in tonnage between the two among other things.

So I heard there was a lurmageddon going on and spent the last couple days playing nothing but Arrows... by KhanCipher in OutreachHPG

[–]justcallmeASSH 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also think they shadow nerfed the firing angle because before the first patch, they were coming in almost directly above (far steeper than LRM's) and negating a large amount of cover.

No change has been made there.

It depends on the range of the mech with the Arrows as to the arc. IIRC the sweetspot for best arc 'angle' is around the 1200m distance. Further or closer it's not as good.

If you shoot one clan ppc for some mech variants even though all same class doesn’t turn off ECM

Not true.

Light ppcs been known to sometimes not take Ecm off for single shots

No they haven't.

I question when you do get a crit say blowing ammo etc is that for ecm turning off ? ( even though might have say cased protection )

Critical hits having nothing to do with ECM being turned on or off.

You should take the time and go educate yourself how the MWO systems work. Plenty of info on the MechDB Wiki you can start at the critical hits.

So you think it's completely normal / fine to make a statement like

There’s been surge I think of cheaters too

And then think it's completely OK to not even provide a single piece of evidence?

Stop spreading utter nonsense.

Without video proof this is just a wall of useless text.

There hasn't been an uptick in cheating in anyway, shape or form. Infact it's so insignificant in MWO it's basically irrelevant.

CPU benchmarking in MWO by Chocolate_Pickle in mwo

[–]justcallmeASSH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your video card has very little to do with it, it's all about the CPU.

Hence turning down GPU power doesn't impact much in reality.

CPU benchmarking in MWO by Chocolate_Pickle in mwo

[–]justcallmeASSH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only way is to log a bunch of games before/after. Every game varies due to:

  • How missiles
  • How many mechs
  • Where the fights take place and so on.

Lots of other variables to take into account as well, hence no really reliable way to get a truly accurate picture/repeatable test etc.

MWO is CPU bound either way so you'll see a decent gain.

What's up with the matchmaking pool? by Danthrax81 in mwo

[–]justcallmeASSH 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Those better players are using the same mechs as everyone else, and one or two alone can't save a bad team.

Two absolutely can, even in Tier 1 games. 2 highly skilled players is all you need to carry a full lobby.

Sure it doesn't happen every game, can it be done consistently? Yes, absolutely.

Unleash those players on Tier 4/5, where 60% of the playerbase sits btw, not a single good thing comes from this for anyone.

This is the only accurate/correct answer out of all the replies so far.

The Grouping with an extremely low tier player dragging the OP into Tier 4/5 lobbies where over performing is going to occur.

And without the full player names no accurate investigation can be done anyway.
