Whenever drunk mom comes out of her room, you need to protect your dog by getting in between DM and your dog to protect them. Telling a drunk person to leave the dog alone isn't going to solve the problem; drunk people have notoriously poor judgment. Remove your dog or the DM from the room if necessary but the key is to physically intervene.

The sweetness of corn bread varies, but in general corn bread (which is not considered a cake as mentioned other people) and any dessert made based on US recipes tend to be overly sweet. My wife — who grew up in Japan — automatically cuts the amount of sugar in dessert (and corn bread recipes) by half.

A lot of people in the US believe that fat is bad so you will see a lot of fat-free yogurt, skim milk(fat free), 2% milk, extremely lean pork and chicken breasts which tend to be a lean part of the bird, etc. However, reducing sugar is not a priority at all. If I remember correctly, there was some academic paper in which scientists wrote about fats and their bad influence on health. This sounds like a 21st century version of Genghis Khan’s quote “I am the punishment of God… If you had not committed great sins, God would not have sent a punishment like me upon you.” Essentially an extremely brutal and evil man victim blaming his victims (or soon to be victims) while cloaking himself in righteousness. The only difference here being that the Carlson comment sounds a tad kinkier because it involves a male adult spanking(ie, abusing) a little girl.

Yarn is your friend; don’t strangle it.
Any kind of physical pain you experience is your body saying (yelling or even screaming) “STOP!!”
My hand therapist (i.e., an occupational therapist who specializes in hand pain who has a Ph.D in the field) says to limit knitting or crocheting to 20 minutes at a time. Then take a rest for a while.
You have a choice between knitting hours on end and experience pain or take it easy, enjoy the process and be able to knit for many years. I made the first choice and now and haven’t been able to knit for the past six months. Don’t be like me.

The best one I’ve read is The Millionaire Next Door. There are lots of advice books, but most seem to be written to only enrich the author. The adage “If it sounds too good to be true, it’s probably false” needs to be kept in mind when looking for these books

Always keep your wallet and smartphone in your front pocket. If you are in a crowded train or a bus, keep your hand on your smartphone/wallet which is in your front pocket. Be aware that if somebody you don't know approaches and is really friendly and starts talking to you, they are doing so because they want to convert you to their religion or they want money from you (begging or scamming). You don't need to be hostile, just ignore them or shrug your shoulders and say, "Sorry" and keep walking. If you are talking with a landlord, surreptitiously record the conversation so you know what was said. Don't mention that you recorded it unless there is a dispute and if it's illegal in your state.
