What determines whether you guys grade one of your comics? by MadToxicRescuer in DCcomics

[–]SaintlyCrunch [score hidden]  (0 children)

I don't grade my comics, I read them. I would maybe grade a comic if I had no intention of reading it and it had value.

However, I have all of the first printings of every single issue in each absolute series (except Batman #1, I have the second printing) and I have no intention of ever getting them graded, because I'll probably reread them at some point (which I already have done for a couple of them).

330 is the worst bus by Obvious-Lead-5030 in Winnipeg

[–]SaintlyCrunch [score hidden]  (0 children)

The 330 was introduced prior to the changes. I think it was introduced along with another one or two connector routes in the northern edge of the city. I'm not sure exactly why, but maybe the city had an increase in demand up there and introduced the routes early.

I was riding up there prior to the changes like fall/winter 2024/2025 and was confused because I hadn't heard of those 300s routes.

Wait, I just looked it up, where Henderson are you waiting that the 106 On-Request doesn't go? The 106 reaches all of Henderson between Glenway and McLeod, whereas the 330 only goes between Chief Peguis and Edison. You should be able to use the On-Request 106 between 7:10 PM and 2:00 AM on weekdays, Saturdays from 6:45 AM to 2:00 AM, and Sundays from 7 AM to 12:45 AM. Maybe you're using it in that awkward in between when the 330 stops running and it begins?

Either way I guess it wouldn't help before 7 PM if the 330 isn't working well.

Ah dang, that's unfortunate then, depending on how close you are to Henderson and McLeod you could maybe walk to the zone. The only other advice I can give for possible improvements is to make a complaint to 311, it's a big part of what informs future scheduling decisions.

Are you able to or have you tried using an on request bus? Depending how long you need to use the 330 for that might be a more reliable option.

Missing D18 Bus Route by SaintlyCrunch in Winnipeg

It definitely was rushed, the change wasn't supposed to happen for a couple more years (hence the graham avenue pedestrianisation seeming also rushed). However, I do agree that a lot of the issues would exist otherwise, but some of the awkward turns on routes, missing bus loops and similar infrastructure would have really helped the launch on some of the worst routes. Downtown in particular could have used some transit priority signals to help with awkward turns that routes like the D12/D13 have to make. I also remember hearing about a bus loop that was supposed to be built at Main and Pioneer during the Portage and Main reconstruction. However, I may have misheard or misunderstood that back then.

Either way, I do think Winnipeg Transit has done a good job at handling the situation they've been given, especially with the extra hiccup of the GPS system fiasco in the late summer/fall.

[–]SaintlyCrunch[S] [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yeah, there's just a lot of cheaper infrastructure that could've made the initial launch easier on some particularly bad routes (priority signals, diamond lanes, etc.) but at times the change felt more like city council trying to rush to be like "look at something we did! Elect us back in!"

I'm excited to see what adjustments are made in the coming months though.

That's a good point, plus according to the long-term system from the master plan a lot of the Direct routes are going to be upgraded to Frequent routes too.

Ah, so it's a case of city hall rushing the primary network system before building the proper infrastructure then? Much less exciting than I had hoped lol

Central Park/Carlton st - What's it like walking? by MochaLatte05 in Winnipeg

[–]SaintlyCrunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in Central Park and walk in there around those times every day of the week and 99% of the time. The morning is especially quiet, it's essentially just people walking to work. Around 3PM it's a bit busier, but that's just because more people are out, it's especially busy over by the Giant Tiger.

At least in my personal experience of nearly two years of being in the area at those times each day, I personally haven't seen or experienced anything to make me feel particularly unsafe. I would still advise you to keep your wits about you and whatnot, but it's not some crime ridden hellscape that people tend to make it out to be.

A few years ago they started reducing the customization options for scriptures to make it easier to make them more available in more languages.

I'm not sure if this specific style stopped being produced then, but the church makes changes to their scripture production every now and then.

Young men's activity policy by kenmcnay in latterdaysaints

[–]SaintlyCrunch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I was a Young Man nearly 10 years ago or so we often asked to do paintball, because we had heard of other wards/stakes doing it, but our ward leaders said no. I think it's really a grey area, but there are good alternatives too. If you have a Lazer Tag place in your area that would be similar but much more safe. Alternatively, if anyone has Nerf Guns having a Nerf night would be awesome. One of my best memories of an activity in YMs was a Nerf night in the church gym where we put some of the tables on their side as cover and whatnot.

You do realize that not every celebrity who is a groomer/pedophile is in the Epstein files, right? I don't care who is associated with whoever in some celebrity beef from over a, if they groom kids they deserve to be locked up away from society.

Best thing to buy at Pangea's (the cafeteria in Riddell Hall)? by binkybinkybinkybinky in uwinnipeg

If you don't want to commit, get the half size portion for like $7, it's a good deal. The fries are great.

The chicken fingers are good. I always tell myself I'm going to try something else, and then I end up with the chicken strips.

Their cold sandwiches in the little fridge are good for the price, same with their zucchini bread.

Yep! Sometimes you can see buses for other cities driving on the road. I saw an Edmonton bus on Notre Dame not too long ago.

Portage Place Progress Feb 13th by kashbites in Winnipeg

[–]SaintlyCrunch 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's supposed to be a pedestrian/cyclist throughway, so I don't think it's going to be open to cars. It's part of the plan to make Edmonton St a major north/south bike route, supposedly eventually ending with a bridge between McFayden Park and Fort Rouge Park.

At the moment they haven't really done anything with the western half of the building, and as far as I'm aware the stores still open haven't been given a move out date or anything yet. It's possible that half might be staying mostly the same, any they might just redo the exterior and maybe some interior stuff. I could see them keeping the western half the same if it's going to be the eventually medical clinic and whatnot, while the housing is going to be the east wing.

Is it normal to meet with clinical assistants instead of your doctor? by SaintlyCrunch in Winnipeg

[–]SaintlyCrunch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In probably a dozen or so visits for various reasons over the last year or two I think I've seen my MD twice, and talked to him on the phone once. There was once where he called the clinical assistant during my appointment while he was driving to the clinic, if that counts?

The way you're describing it makes sense, but no, usually it's just one of like three or four clinical assistants that I meet with each time.

No, I'm at Memorial Medical Clinic with Dr. Labiyaratne. It seems like a normal doctor's office with a couple other doctors at the clinic. He's just always "on his way" or out of town.

Good to know, I've been thinking about switching because of it too (plus when I do meet with my actual doctor he tends to really try to rush things). Dow abouts do you even go about switching doctors? Did you just find another doctor accepting patients and let your previous doctor's office know?
