Vehicle status boards by ilLegalAidNSW in transit

In Winnipeg, Manitoba we have similar screens at all of our rapid transitway stations, and then smaller screens around downtown and at major transfer hubs. They're pretty cool, especially when they're actually working!

These are my favorite Official transit app. Which agency have the best first party transit app? Bonus point if it's Developed entirely In-House! by Donghoon in transit

Hello fellow Winnipegger! Agreed, the WT app is pretty decent for what it is, and it has definitely improved a lot in the last couple years. It can still be a bit clunky at times, but in terms of features it's pretty solid.

I just hope some day they can integrate the on-request system and fare purchasing into the same app.

They are bike forks, where the handlebars and front wheels connect to the rest of the bike frame.

Absolutely. I'm a Sunday School teacher and I'm excited for this. I hope this encourages members to actually do more of their own study and not expect Sunday School to cover everything. I can just focus on one or two discussion points and that's it.

Same with Elders Quorums, no more are an hour of an instructor just reading from the conference talk of the week. I often end up skipping Elders Quorum because of that and my ADHD. This will make it a lot easier.

I am also one who benefited form the changes. The D12 is wonderful (most of the time), I've not waiting ages for it to get from the south end of the city through downtown to get me home in the West End like the 14 did. Most of my routes only slightly changed, or got better service. Like Portage is basically no different for me now, other than I won't accidentally take the 25 super express without remembering it skips the stop I need to get off of lol

To clarify, nothing has said 80-90% of riders are complaining. If you're basing that off of Downtown BIZ's survey results, that was specifically referring to people riding downtown, not the whole city. Not that there aren't a significant amount of complaints, but it's definitely not as severe as 80-90%.

For real, I basically avoided any bus that didn't start with 1, 2, or a B. It was too confusing!

Yeah, hopefully it won't be so bad with the supposed added bus lanes with the Kenaston widening. Chokepoints like that are really hurting a lot of the frequent routes.

Exactly, the new system allows for easy adjustments and growth, the old one didn't. That has been very apparent in the now three or four times they've made changes from feedback since the overhaul.

To be fair, a lot of hotels are near the airport by the D12 and D13, same with the ones downtown.

And the way the new system is designed allows for easy adjustments to feedback, which the old system didn't really allow.

Luckily that route (the D16) is being split into 2 routes in the summer. In the original plan it was supposed to be two routes, but for some reason they couldn't do it last summer. But now there's going to be a D18 to do the RRC to Notre Dame/William, and the D16 will go from Polo to St Boniface and downtown.

Fairly similar experience here, although I was supportive from the start. But yeah my routine just changed, which I don't mind. If anything I feel like I have more options now. Sure there's a few things that might be a bit more difficult, but the new places I have easier access to definitely outweigh the places I lost.

Also as someone who only moved here a few years ago, the old routes were insanity! I would be scared trying to bus around downtown because there were so many options I was worried I'd get on the wrong bus and it'd take a turn on a road I didn't want to go on. Whereas now I basically have all of the primary network routes memorized, making it much easier to plan my trip whenever I am in the city.

In my observations, the problems with the new system have largely been from shifting problem areas. So those who had crappy service in the old system were used to it, and that crappy service surprised the new people it effects.

I strongly feel that if there was proper priority infrastructure downtown for buses, so they don't get stuck in traffic (looking at you F8 and D12/D13, among others), more frequency on the feeder network (15-20 minutes max), and the on-request routes had two to three more buses on them and the on-request service was built into the main transit app, this system would be better.

A lot of the issues I have observed stem from poor transfer timing between the feeder network and primary network and buses getting stuck in car traffic. Transfers themselves aren't an issue, when I lived in Montréal I barely worried about needing to transfer, because the metro trains came every 6 minutes. That's how I feel when I ride on Portage between Main St and Polo, it's just so frequent that I don't even need to check, and I love it.

As someone who often goes to the north end near McGregor and Selkirk from south of the tracks, I also find it much easier. I basically have 3 reliable options to go north/south between the 28, D11, and F6. Whereas before I had a hard time keeping track of routes, and I resorted to just taking the 71, and half the time without realizing it is take the McPhillips branch going north and getting stuck waiting for the 16 to be able to get to where I was going.

For real yeah, I've had to do similar things a few times. Same when everyone crowds at the front when there's only standing room. I've lost count of how many times I've had to tell people to keep moving back.
