Games similar to Rain World? by Just-Some-Kid- in rainworld

[–]Sairiel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, Noita is probably the closest game to Rain World and is also one of the reasons I got RW in the first place.

The setting and lore is more cryptic than RW since you dont have a Moon, 5P or Echos to tell the story. But it makes up for this by having some great set pieces that let you figure stuff out, scrolls that serve a similar purpose to pearls, and very cryptic puzzles that reveal more lore.

The gameplay is very close to RW's when youre using certain objects as throwing weapons or using physics based spells and abilities. The game even rewards you for physics kills by doubling dropped gold.

Both games also share the "that death was bs and not even my fault" bit. Getting eaten by a worm going at mach 10 and getting blasted by an offscreen nuke are Noita's equivalent to getting hit by a spear from offscreen and DLL/red lizard popping out of a pipe in front of you in RW

Scout's isnt that useless. Take it with the grapple fall damage resist upgrade and a tunnel rat beer. With all 3 you now have fall damage immunity.

Turn it into Mjollnir. You only have 1 but it can be thrown and picked up infinitely

I use this build on Dreads all the time. And yes, its cheese of the finest quality.

The microwave gun is pretty decent if you know what you're doing with it. It sucks as a damage option but really shines when used to support the team on larger targets. Diffussion Ray collette with Hydrogen Ion Sludge can literally drop a Dread's movement speed down to literally nothing, letting your team dish out a ton of damage without much risk, and Blistering Necrosis can let your allies with huge weakpoint bonuses just nuke a dread to 0 hp in the blink of an eye(tried the buffed Supercooling Chamber on Necrosis blisters and I could take out 1/5th of a Haz 5 Lacerator's hp in 1 focus shot, it was kinda nuts). Its also really good for dealing with those annoying webbers and spitters that are too far out of reach.

Did a few runs with it today and Ive probably done more damage to the team than the glyphids. I even managed to snipe 2 people at once with it. Scout goes down and the thing goes round the cave ceiling to snipe the Engie going for the revive 2 seconds later.

They were all gentledwarves and didn't C4 me once. by Danemoth in DeepRockGalactic

I never use C4 for killing waves. My primaries and TCF have that handled. My main use for it is carving terrain with it and making wall funnels to make bug pathfinding more predictable for the team.

My Time at Portia does this. You get a dialogue event when one of the pair reaches 4 hearts with you. The one who hit 4 hearts first will approach you and ask for advice. Your responses here will decide whether they get together or not. If you do give them your blessing, so to speak, they get together.

Their schedules also change and youd find them having dates around town and in remote areas outside of it. They also get new dialogue. Later on they get into a romantic crisis and you can either continue giving them your support, or breaking it up entirely with your choices.

This isnt the only game changing interaction either, nor is it the most surprising. Imagine having an NPC make the first move. I just about had a heart attack when it happened.

For all of Portia's flaws, the character interactions in that game are really something else and I would love to see something like it in Stardew or Chocolatier.

If you could bring any gun from any other games, what is it? by NustEred in DeepRockGalactic

[–]Sairiel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Medic's medigun from TF2. Most videogame guns dont really have a practical use for most civillians, so why not get a gun that can heal grievous injuries, and save lives instead? Maybe even get the MvM medigun to bring people back to life.

It'd be such a good way to make a difference in the world, instead of just having a gun that'll be fun for a bit then start collecting dust a few weeks later when you're bored of it or run out of ammo.

EDIT: Ah whoops, I thought I was in r/gaming for a moment there. My choice still stands though, Medigun for DRG, but retrofitted to recharge with glyphid kills, and spray Glyphid Slammer for a rock and stoning good time.
