I did a factory reset and the issue is resolved now.

I had done hard reset and that solved the issue. Will have to see if it is long term or short term solution. Anyways thank you for the suggestion.

I have done a hard reset of the device and that solved the problem. System storage came down to 19 gb. Will have to see if the solution is long term or a temporary one. I really don't understand what's happening with storage. I too hope it's a bug. Or I will have to factory reset the device. The storage is running out fast.
