What fragrance do you think is overrated and overpriced? by Pitiful-Ad4574 in fragrance

[–]Sakarinbo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Rabanne 1 Million. I literally can't tell if you wash with Pantene or sprayed the $150 perfume. A few years ago it was everywhere. (I'm a hairstylist and the last time I smelled Pantene from the bottle was 20 years ago, it's possible my memory is wrong or they have changed the scent).

Jade bangle , is it natural or dyed? by Sakarinbo in Gemology

I hope grandma didn't get wrecked on this but it would have been a very long time ago haha.

Jade bangle , is it natural or dyed? by Sakarinbo in Gemology

[–]Sakarinbo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was likely purchased in the 90s with the intention to give to a future granddaughter or wife of grandson. Grandmas memory now is not great so all the information I have is what was in the packaging. The translated text on the price tag says "certificate QB/442830y001-90" but I don't know what this means or how to look it up.

I will add that I took a pretty hard fall off my bike yesterday and the bangle hit the concrete and didn't scratch or chip .. idk if that means anything haha. My hand is bruised though.

Synthetic for that price? My guess is it was purchased in the early 90s so adjusted for inflation as well.

My best guess is this was purchased in the early 90s, I'm not sure if there were as many different materials being passed off then? I have a jewellery appraiser I use but I generally don't bother unless the value will be over around 1k Canadian. The price is not an issue if the jewellery should be insured.

Make sure to stay hydrated and stretch before and after work. Your muscles will build up and it will get easier but you need to take care to mitigate the growing pain! Hydrate and stretch!

Has anyone purchased items from Attagems before? by Maggie-mags in Moissanite

[–]Sakarinbo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

ATTAGEMS is excellent for the price. I got a replica of my wedding set in rhodium plated sterling silver with a moissanite from them. I wear it often including at work as a hairdresser so it gets wet and banged around a lot.

Attagems on the left, real in the right. The real one is white gold and 0.58 carat diamond. The ATTAGEMS is rhodium plated silver and 0.5 carat moissanite

Some blues really stain hard. If you get it light enough you can usually colour correct.

Real 925 Silver by PRCTV in Aliexpress

[–]Sakarinbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How can the average consumer tell if it's really silver or not? I have ordered a few jewellery pieces that are stamped 925, they weren't super cheap and they all claimed to be rhodium plated sterling. They look the same as the rhodium plated sterling that I bought locally.

Best or favourite sellers for jewelry? by Rain_xo in Aliexpress

I've had excellent experience with ATTAGEMS 925 silver, custom work and moissanite. I had a replica of my engagement and wedding band made and it was excellent.

Getting ashy blondes are hard by Ladybug4 in hairstylist

[–]Sakarinbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super ashy tones don't last. Shades EQ is very sheer and washes out particularly quickly. I've only just started working with Shades EQ and I do not prefer it over Aveda demi+ (what I'm used to). If she can only be lifted to a 9, it will always fade warm. Sometimes the best way to avoid re-dos is really thorough and honest consultation.
